Do you want it to be encrypted exactly like a *nix password or do you want to use a special salt for encryption?

If you want to do a custom salt, you can use (in PERL)

crypt($pwd, substr($pwd,1,2);

or something similar.

Login to your server either by Telnet or SSH. use htpasswd to reset the password. Like

httpasswd /home/account/.htpasswd username

It will then prompt you for the password you want to use and your set.

make sure you delete the "a" account that it automatically inserts. I didnt notice that when I first posted the url. You can find others, just search google for htpasswd generators. There are a ton of them.
