              I proceeded to the checkout to purchase - expecting a $995 price, and or, up to $1100-ish. Instead, by the end of the checkout - with no upgrades, it ended up being $1,478.69.

              Garbage.

                          Since its really onl7y a $600 discount its still much cheaper to build it yourself. Decent deal for anyone not interested in building their own pc.
