I've only lived here for 4 years, but in the main thread, other GFYers were more informed than myself. Apparently Florida has a huge variety of snakes. The one thing it took me a while to get use to is the little lizards running around everywhere, they get into the house all the time. I use to freak out, now I just chill with them.
They entertain my cat.
