    Is it really possible to make crystal clear thumbs/images from dvdS?

    DVD ripped into AVI

    From AVI loaded into a prog such as Snatch it.

    Sample below...

    For smallish (300 pixels or so) try http://www.deskshare.com/vem.aspx , grate video editing tool. I use it all the time.

        That one you have there isn't all that bad. Mess around with the brightness and contrast a bit, maybe the colors as well...

        The pic sorta looks distorted, but clarity looks good to me.

            i take a screen capture of my videos being played at full screen, that way when you resize it squashes it down and makes a nice thumb

              How do you do that? I tried with the print screen and paste but all I get is a black image. Is there software for that? If so, how much is it?

                Try SnatchIt...do a search on google for snatchit and you can do it.
                The big question as Juicy asked if you can really get good quality?

                  I use WinDVD and pull the images straight from the DVD before I encode it.
                  It doesnt come out too bad, and the size it gives you is 640x480
