I started thinning when I got first got sick about 3 years ago... they don't know what the problem is so they label it CFS, FMS, or maybe Lupus. Doctors..<sigh>
Anyway I noticed that I would get a dime-sized fungal infection on my arm once in awhile... I guess because my immune system is so busy attacking all this other stuff going on in me, that trivial stuff like a fungal infection on the skin would get past their defenses....
So that got me to thinking... I know our hair/skin is loaded with bacteria and other creepy crawlies all day long - even when you are in perfect health.
But when your immune function is lowered the the counts of these bacteria and bugs are allowed to go up.
A normal, healthy immunue system can keep these baddies in check.
So I investigated this a bit and found out there are these little microscopic worm-like bugs called demodex mites that live on our heads and love to pack themselves in our hair follicles.
I think its thought that after they take over a folicle for a certain period of time, that folicle won't produce normal healthy hair any longer.
So here's a question for all you thinners and baldies out there....
When you first started losing your hair did you have an itchy scalp? Maybe a little mild dandruff? Or other skin problems that you didn't have before?Comment

Also.. I think if you start shaving your head, you lose more hair faster?
Because your head will still produce the oils for your hair (even though its not there.. you shaved it)
So if your thinning is being caused by those demodex mites - mites that feed off those sebaceous oils.. now more and more of the folicles will get clogged with this extra oil providing more nutrient filled folicles for the demodex to invade.Comment

get your doctor to prescribe you proscar... same as propecia but 5 times as strong (finestride)
just cut the tablet up into quarters and take a quarter every two days
im just taking 1 tablet a week... a box of thirty tablets costs me AU$90 and last 30 weeks....
this is cheapest solution to hair loss problems....
the earlier you start the better
