The other dog was a German Shepherd male big black one a few doors up, poor thing was like that for about 5 hours till we noticed it, she was hiding under our bed like she does, it wasn't until our 1 year old was eating in her highchair that we noticed the dog wasn't out, we thought she got hit by a car then the next morning we noticed the one on her stomach.

Ya so do I but this one was our fault Taffy usually is on a chain in the backyard only long enough to do her thing then wants in but the kids left the door wide open and she went out exploring so it wasn't the other dogs fault he was the one on the chain and it was our dog that went into his yard! That's my worst fear: someone leaving the gate open and allowing my dogs to get out of their yard and into trouble.
I have 2 males who are adorable and sweet but very much alpha males and they don't play well with other dogs at all. My boys probably would have done the same thing to your dog if she wandered into their yard. Horrible but that's why I'm a NAZI about making sure no one fucks up and gives them an opportunity to cause trouble.
Then again, your dog seems to be a sweet female so they probably would have just gangbanged her instead.

That's bad. Fortunately, your dog got away. Those German Shep's got some big fang on them.
I had an APBT that was friendly to every female dog he ever met, even strange ones. But another male, and he'll go nuts.. He ain't afraid of any dog, but he's always on leash when we're away from our property.

its always those small dogs that have the balls and start fights. i have a pit/lab mix and hes about 75 pounds and one of those little dogs tried attacking us on two different occasions. one of them was from someone being irresponsible and letting the dog out the front door. lucky i was able to scare the dogs off, and my dog just kept walking. you should punish your kids for letting the dog out to teach them a lesson.I host with VacaresComment

As an owner of two large dogs, I find it admirable you're taking some responsibility for what happened to your dog. Many pet owners would be quick to blame the other dog, even though it was on a chain.
However, incidents like this don't need to happen. Large dogs should be behind fences. And securely behind them, at that. Dogs that are chained up often times are unhappy animals. If your small dog got within range of this other dog, chain or no chain, the other owner is partially responsible too. What if a child had wandered in?
Anyway, I'm glad your pet will be well .. At very least, it should stand as a real learning experience for the children that left the door open. This is how we learn in life.

Ya the kids were punished but by nothing I did to them they cried when they saw what happened to the dog and both of them are taking good care of her, the thing is Taffy is my step sons dog he doesn't live with us only comes here on the weekends and when he came out last weekend, Taffy has been afraid of him everytime he lets her out to do her thing she runs in under the bed so I mentioned it to his mother and we both think he was the one who left the door opened!!
PersianKitty - She had to go back every second day to the vet for them to keep an eye on the one on her stomach. But shes doing great now took her out yesterday for a run in the back yard.
