for some people coke can be a very casual drug, for some a bad addiction - you might be worried about nothing, other than him scoring a bag cut with fiberglass

Exactly, coke is one of those things your body lets you know that it just can't take. I was doing an 8 ball a day for a while but after a while, my body just started to shut down and things that should have been simple no longer were. He will see this. Waking up with bloody noses and having his eyes burning out of his skull @ 7 am when all the coke is gone will either make him or break him. Either way though...it's his choice.
