If Russia & China nuked Israel into oblivion, what would the US govt do?

Let's say we wake up tomorrow morning to discover that Israel has been nuked by Russia & China. Everyone in Israel is dead.

Would the US launch WWIII to avenge Israel? Or would the US government seize the opportunity to finally have world peace?

There would be a whole lot of fucked up countries if they nuked that small place

I read that every person in the lower 48 US was exposed to some from of radiation when they used to test those things in Nevada/New Mexico. Causes a raise in things like cancer

Of course it depends on circumstance and the administration but
I think that the US would probably do nothing. Look at how carefully the US fought in Viet Nam and Korea in order to not instigate a widening war with the USSR. Note that the US didn't do anything when Russian tanks rolled into Budapest and Prague. Maybe use of nukes would change that equation but I doubt it.
