His business is off to a good start...but as he predicted to me...the bulk of his business are adults...and by adults I mean 18 and older. He has made a sizable profit in his first month of business and he is opening another one on 1 November in another city...and once it gets off and running he has his eye on another city and etc. The population is around 30,000 for his current business.Originally posted by bhutocracy

I've toyed with this idea myself, but have been a little worried about the population of the town i just moved my offices to - but it's 30,000 as well. Not a lot for people to do except get pissed/stoned, something like this could do ok.. few more demographics i'd have to worry about like how many already have a decent gaming machine and games plus high speed internet access. I guess things like gaming competitions with small cash prizes and whatnot would bring them out of the woodwork... and get them buying that syrup and water coke
how much did he end up investing to get it up?Comment

I left off that his current business is doing so well...he is adding 5 more computers (he currently has 10)...but they are being filled. He can go to 20, or maybe 25, but is just adding 5 more at this point.Originally posted by bhutocracy

He has a weekly tournament that has a cash prize for the winner and time allotments for 2nd and 3rd place. When you're running down my country hoss...you're walking on the fighting side of me!

Another thing...he is not yet selling food/snacks...or soft drinks...as this requires an additional license...but is investigating getting the license to do so.When you're running down my country hoss...you're walking on the fighting side of me!

don't mean to sound like im prying so much.. (and it's not like i would be competition in australia lol) but I am very seriously looking at setting one up - it would be a great little cash business.
my only concern is demographics, this town has a fairly "grey" population. which is good in a way - there isn't much for the kids to do except get stoned, drunk or surf because it's too quiet. but the actual number of potential patrons... I don't know..
renting the machines wouldn't be THAT much of an investment.. but the shop lease, candy bar etc could pile it up a bit. plus finding the right slacker to man it, someone who can trouble shoot as well as serve slushies.
dunno what level of investment I wouldn't mind risking.
Theres a great little shopfront right on the main street that would be perfect for it..Comment

My brother got everthing together for less than $5,000 (I think and I mean that includes all expenses) and if it goes under at some point in the future...he will have recovered his initial investment and then some so all he would be stuck with is the lease on the building (a two year lease)...and that is only $600.00 per month (he got lucky on this building)...the building he is looking at for his next business is $1200.00 per month and he may have to take a five year lease...but he is still shopping.Originally posted by bhutocracy
