As the new millennia begins, we find a situation where anyone, normal, or demented can be a publisher on the Internet. To find child pornography on the Internet is really just a simple matter of knowing where to look. Although the distribution of child pornography is a "cause celeb" of those who advocate restrictions through legislation - a bigger concern - a bigger problem, is not child pornography but rather - child predators.

No amount of legislation, no amount of filtering software, no amount of Internet "police" will ever stop the child predator on the Internet. Is the posting of child pornography on the Internet a problem - yes. Is it a critical problem ? No - not when compared with what I call child-chat predation.

What is a chat predator ? Chat predators are adults who use the Internet as a tool to introduce themselves to teens. Yes, there is no arguing that the children in the photos on this page have been raped and abused. But what you may not be aware of is the number of adults who surf Internet chat rooms looking for children or teens.

Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is very popular among teens. It is surprising how many adults do not understand what IRC is, and how many adults have never even entered a web browser based chat room. However, IRC but whatever name , be it ICQ or mIRC, or the many web browser based chat rooms, are favorite tools of the Internet predator.

Who is this Internet predator ? What type of profile does he/she have ? Well surprisingly the majority are not what you would call hard core pedophiles. The majority are males 18+ and can actually be pretty much anyone.

I guess you could further classify them as guys who purposely look for minors and those who accidentally meet them.

I remember one of the best and funniest chats I ever had was with a 17 year old high school senior and the captain of the debate team. We were debating "nothing" , quite literally that chat rooms discuss "nothing", she quipped and then I sniped, and she would reply, and well the whole chat was just hilarious and the room thought so too. Anyway, the chat ended with the common "ASL" question. Meaning, what is your age sex and location. When I asked her the same I was shocked, and could not have guessed I was chatting to someone half my age. The point is not all adults who meet minors are predators - certainly I am not. (HA HA FUCKING HA ) However, unless you have chatted, and unless you have become cyber friends with someone, you may not understand how quickly these relationships develop.

The thing about cyber-friends is that there is a certain amount of anonymity to it. Meaning, there is a tendency to "open up" a little more and discuss things you may not normally do during a non cyberspace friendship initiation. "My boyfriend is not treating me good" or "I don't like the way my parents are" are indications to guys that a vulnerability exists. It is this sharing of vulnerability that can take a normal guy, a non-predator, and have him say to himself ..."hmmm ...maybe this is an opportunity".

Then there are the true purposeful and dedicated predators. These are adults who are specifically looking for minors. To see how bad it can get, just join a teen chat room, introduce yourself to the room sysop and sit back and watch. I was amazed at what I saw on a Friday night in a teen mIRC chat channel on Dalnet. Completely amazed. The room was meant specifically for teens. Adults are not allowed to be in the room. However, because I introduced my self to the room sysop (systems operator) they allowed me to stay. Yes - THEY, there were actually four on duty this particular night.

I was thinking okay lets just relax and see how long it takes to discover an adult predator in the room. (yeah right, we know what you were really thinking, you sick pedo bastard) Well, I can tell you it took less time then it did to type this sentence. You needed four room sysops because it was a constant flow of adults into the "teen only" chat room. The four room sysops were adult volunteers. Yes - adults who give up their time on a Friday night in order to protect the teens.

Again, I want to reiterate that the room sysops were volunteers. The reason I want to mention this again is that I believe the Internet is mostly good and NOT mostly bad. There are many people, like these room sysops, that are making a difference on an individual basis.

I forgot her handle, but I will call her MamaBear for now. I asked MamaBear how she could tell if those who were entering were adults or not when anyone can make up a handle. Her answer, was what I expected, "It just takes experience, some are very obvious and some aren't".

It truly does take an experienced chatter to recognize a predator, adult or other. The problem is the predator may be just as experienced and hence guidelines should be given to teens before they enter chat rooms, and of course there should be adult supervision for some teens, especially when they first start to learn how to chat.

One guideline for teens is to NOT leave the teen chat room. It is a common ploy of a predator to enter a teen chat room long enough to "snag" a teen and lure them away into a private chat. Once in a private chat room, the sysops can not see the chat and the predator can work undisturbed.

As most predators will want to eventually meet the teen in person, teens should lie about the location question or answer with a region/state or province. If a teenager replies to the location question with "USA" the predator will continue to press for the exact location. The teen should pick a different city then the one they live in.

Predators can be persistent and will often ask indirect questions to determine their preys location. The question like "What bus do you take to go down town ?" or "Washington High - sucks".

Predators will also have some favorite rooms. (really? what's yours???)

Content on the Internet is next to impossible to control. From beastiality to infant rape, (i gotta hand it to you- you even found a way to work in "infant rape" to your SE spam. no doubt about it now- you truly deserve to die) it is all out there if one looks for it. When a person with one of these "thinking disorders" finds their particular fetish, it gives them a "feeling" of "see I knew it was okay" - albeit false. Although, purposely blurred and censored for this Starter Archives area - graphics like this are not this blurry or censored in the Advnaced Archives..


The biggest tactic that a predator uses is just a pure numbers game. Quite simply they just enter as many chat rooms as possible, perhaps with an introduction like "Any cute teen gals wanna chat ?".

As any Webmaster will tell you the key to a successful website is traffic. The primary method of obtaining this traffic is inclusion in the search engines. Just type the search word "sex" into any search engine and you will be presented not with thousands but millions of search matches. So Webmasters are driven to find methods of getting their website at the top of the match-list for key sex words.

Just like practically every industry type has search engines geared towards that industry - well so does the sex industry. Some of the most popular sex search engines are based upon popularity. Basically, what you do is put some code on your website and they track your websites traffic. The busier you are the higher up on the list you go.

The sex industry has it's own search engines and many of the most popular count your traffic and put you on this list based on traffic. However, with literally hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line, Webmasters will do practically anything to get hits/traffic. Mass e-mailings (my teen has received 5 so far) and automatic browser openings. One wrong click of teenager looking for "animal sex practices" a legitimate school project could cause several dozen porno website browsers to open.

Additionally, competition among these websites causes an adult Webmaster to make sure that their homepage catches your eye. Hence, the more outrageous their homepage is - the more likely you will buy a membership to their site.

Which finally brings me to where I got the pictures on this page from. They are from the general audience area (homepages) of some of the busiest websites making thousands of dollars per day ( well shit, I didn't know I was allowed to take graphics from the sponsors' "general audience areas"- this is gonna save me a lot of money). If legislation is introduced to stop it (and there should be) these websites will just go offshore and/or possibly to third world countries.

In summary, it is impossible to control Internet content on a global scale. To stop your children from viewing material like this - YOU MUST SUPERVISE THEM. And finally, content is not the biggest problem on the Internet. - child predators are, which again the risk can be virtually eliminated by PARENTAL SUPERVISION !
