A lot of the folks I've dealt with in this regard honestly just seem like they don't have the cajones to make the 'mea culpa' you're asking for, Aaron. Maybe I'm an optimist, but it's always seemed to me that it's easier for weak personalities to go into 'bobblehead' mode, say yes to anything to your face, then run back behind the safety of their PCs and try to pretend it never happened.
Not making excuses for it - it's bullshit, without question. But as long as we've got an industry where there's no barrier to entry for any ol' rookie, greenpea or general slacker to break into it, we're gonna have this problem.
