"Heart Disease" cured by Vitamin C + Lysine? -- Linus Pauling

The conspiracy thread made me think of this...

Some of the older folks here, people who were in there 20's or 30's and above in the 1970's might remember TWICE nobel prize winning chemist, Linus Pauling. Yes, he hit it two times.

He based a big part of his life studying Vitamin C.

He wrote several books on the subject, and others, including college level chemistry books I believe.

This guy wasn't one of these new-breed healers who wrote books claiming if you rub honey all over yourself on Wendsdays between 4-5pm you'll cure cancer.

This guy was a genius. And he wasn't afraid to show his work and scientific data to back up his claims.

But of course, when you go up against an industry making $50-$300 billion dollars a year annually, you're going to get smacked down hard and fast.

(Those are the numbers I've seen on the web, just for heart disease alone - let alone all the other medical problems heart disease could cause)

It all came down to being about Vitamin C + Lysine. Both of which are readily available and very inexpensive.

I think he also was a strong believer that Cancer could be succesfully treated with Vitamin C (intravenous) as well.

Check him out if you're interested....

    What is Lysine?
I post on GFY so that when people ask me what I do,
I can tell them that I work with the mentally retarded.

      It's an amino acid.

Lysine is loved by herpes sufferers too... it's supposed to ward off the virus very well.

I forget the exact role of Lysinein Paulings treatment.

Paulling and his partner did patent the treatment though, I think it's probably expired by now. .

Maybe I can find the patent.

Vit. C is the shit... i use it in its best form "lemons"..when i or anyone in my family is getting a cold...we do the lemon juice shots ..i havent had a full blown cold in many many many years.

when i fast once a year..i use the master cleanser which consists of lemon juice, cayenne, maple syrup and water (yeah its sorta nasty)..but has proven to get rid of gall stones and certain organ cancers when used for a long periods of time rather than the initial 10 days.

no, the main stream pharmacueticals dont want this to be public knowledge.. then we as consumers might find out that nyquil and all those over the counter bullshit remedies are just that...bullshit!

Yeah they (not Pauling, just... "they", whoever they are) suggest lemons as a cheap contraceptive. I guess it kills damn near everything - including HIV.

          How neat.

I think I remember reading something about how they were going to try to hook up Africa with a shitload of lemons to help curb the spread of the disease over there.

I doubt seriously that would ever happen though.

Or worse -- that the approved cures and treatments actually keep us sick longer, or make us sicker than we started out.

It's more profitable to "treat" chronic illnesses than to cure them
Arguing whether the Democratic or Republican party is better is like debating which steaming pile of shit is slightly less stinky.

I think there is a combo of aminos that is supposed to naturally release Human Growth Hormone which is like the fountain of youth and vitality...

I think its Lysine and Arginine.... Anybody know anything about that?

                    For sure.

There are too many examples to list.

I guess another good example is the Atkins diet. Very high percentages of the people that go on that diet lose large amounts of weight, blood pressure drops, bad cholesterol drops, good cholesterol increases, triglycerides drop... and mainstream MD's on the take kick and scream the whole way about how there is now way that it can be good for you.

They'll say it can damage your __________ (insert organ of your choice), yet with the millions (?) of people that have been on this diet who have had good to great results, where are all these people with damaged livers and kidneys or whatever else they claim it will do.

                    Same shit, different spin.

Being overweight is fantastic for the medical industry. Heart disease is fantastic for the medical industry - to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars.

I pay almost $200/mo for basically 80/20 insurance (I pay 20% of everything). It's like pulling teeth with these MD's. You have to go to the same one about 4 times (and $600-$1000 later) before they are like "hmm heeeey you really have something going on with you don't you!"

Lysine & Arginine are opposites of each other or something. I know that people with herpesviruses are supposed to stay away from foods that contain more arginine than lysine (like rasins, walnuts..almost all nuts) and take in more foods that have a higher ratio of lysine to arginine.... like eggs, turkey, most vegetables.

But yeah, I think under normal conditions when you don't have unknown viruses roaming around Arginine is supposed to be pretty beneficial as well.

While a great scientist, Linus Pauling's reputation was a bit tarnished by claims made late in his life. To this day, most of his Vitamin C based claims remain dubious and unsubstantiated by any empirical data.

These later claims lead him to be labelled a "quack" by The National Council Against Health Fraud (NCAHF).

Too high doses of vitamin C can give you liver damage.

I'm a believer of the liver flush, cleanses and most herbal remedies. Grapefruit Seed Extract is also great for killing colds.

vitamin C has been trialled time and again using good scientific method, and there was no risk reduction of heart disease..Even geniuses can be wrong.. I believe he also claimed vitamin C protected against influenza, which has also been studied extensively..

As for the Atkin's diets, most Docs I've talked to about it seem to have an open mind. Even though anecdotal evidence is not what doctors would want to base clinical practice on, it is anecdotes that lead to trials so it would be silly to dimiss it out of hand.
