Recommend me a good ad management software site

Like the ad banner management that GFY might be using to manage all their top and bottom ads. I need something good, solid, reliable, kick ass etc.

    So far I've looked at:

    http://www.hotscripts.com/Detailed/27800.html -- hotscripts
    and
    http://phpadsnew.com/two/ -- PHP Ads

Both are free, don't seem to offer any support or installation, the PHP Ads one is even asking for donations. Is there perhaps one out there that costs money, that I could pay to purchase it and have them help me install it? This is all new ground to me this php mysql shit, I'm a basic html & design guy. Setting up my first php board was a struggle, now I just need the ad spots in place.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Free sig views for helping me out here :D

Php Ads New can do everything that the script on here does...and more! I've installed it on several different sites. If you have a problem with it, just hit me up on icq (in my location) and I'll help you install it. For $25, I'll install it for you.

          phpadsnew is all you need.

I can't comment on the support because I've never needed any.

It's very flexible fast and stable. I just added on MaxMinds geo targeting db and am starting to play with it, but it looks to work flawlessly.

Installation / use is well hahahahahahahahaed and pretty simple.

php ads is the way to go.

If you can read and follow step by step instructions, you can install it. If not, you could hire someone to set it up for you really cheap, I bet.

Try to install it yourself first. You'll be surprised how simple it is.

Easy if you know what you're doing. Like I said, this is new ground for me. I downloaded their zip file, unpacked it, then went to look at how to install it and ........ what? What do I do next? Even the readme file seemed useless. There is nothing there that offers any simple detail on what to do, step-by-step, in order to install it.... and that fucking annoys me. I would be happy to pay them some money for their script and some extra to walk me through the install, but from what I've read on thier site they don't seem to be interested in directly helping anyone, money or no money.

              Weird.

They do however, have a donation link up.

Doug, I'll hit you up soon and if you're around and I decide to go with that program we'll work something out. I'd like to know what program Lens is using on GFY though.

              Any other options out there?

                misc/doc-u-mentation

                they're in there

I went from not knowing how to even turn on a computer back in '97 to building and running over 50 sites, all self-taught. I don't generally have any trouble whatsoever in figuring things out and getting a handle on concepts that are new to me, but every once in a while I tread on new ground and find a site that seems less than user-friendly in a "for dummies" kind of way.

Some webmasters and programmers forget that not everyone has a 5 year computer science degree.

Anyway, these easy-to-follow instructions for phpads hasn't jumped off the page at me, but maybe I'm just not drunk enough to see it. I hate getting too much blood in my alcohol system.

Did you download those 2 pdf files? It's been awhile since I first used it, but I know there were two pdf's- one for installation instructions and one telling you how to use/configure the software. I can't remember if they were included in the zip, or not. The one I had was step by step. I followed it and got it installed with no problems.

PHPadsnew is fine for low traffic sites.

                      I cant STRESS that enough.

Used on high traffic sites and you will need several high powered servers. Several. Trust me... stupid resource hoggin program!

Nice, rich feature set tho, huh?

Didn't see this when I posted. Maybe it is 3.

fwiw - I had no clue either the first time I installed it and I managed to get it up and going, so I'm almost positive you (CDSmith) can.

So...... the site I'm going to install it on is low traffic now, but I intend to throw a lot of money at advertising soon..... I have no idea how much traffic it will generate, but I'm obviously hopeful of a sh**load. What you're saying is that when my site goes high traffic I will have the headache of having to hunt for a better ad management script?

Found the pdf's... would not have known they were there without it being posted in this thread. It frustrates me that these small details aren't big bold and clear on sites like phpads. Too many resource sites out there aren't "idiot-friendly" enough, not by a long shot. Would save themselves a lot of tech support tickets if they were.

Thanks for the advice so far, everyone.

IME, if you break a couple hundred simultaneous connections, your machines will die.

Of course, thats quite a bit of traffic.

Depending upon your budget, there are alot of ad management softwares that can handle all types of traffic. We have one that should be out of beta soon. Hit me up if you're still in the market.

GFY is using Jscript. I use AdCycle from http://www.adcycle.com. I have installed it on a few high traffic sites (250K+) with no problems. If you run the script in daemon mode, I'm sure it can handle whatever traffic you throw at it.
