A little off-topic but...
What was he doing there in the first place? Wandering around looking to build communication towers? No capacity there as military or civilian contractor?
I feel bad for the guy and his family but it sounds like a pretty dumb risk to take. Not the type of environment to run around looking for opportunities for your small business.
