    any lexus sc400 owners here?

Heya any of you guys done any performance mods to your cars? Nothing exterior, i want to maintain the stock look. I've allready ordered tokico struts, eibach pro springs, and am now looking for a frame support crossmember, sway bars (front and rear), hopefully a manufactured cold air intake, performance headers and exhaust (no fart pipes, just something to open up the really restrictive stock exhaust.) Anyone here had any luck? BTW I'm rebuilding the motor myself, so i'll also be in the market for cams, pistons, rods etc...

There's a guy up here I chat with alot who has one that is completely stock on the outside, completely pimped engine. If I see him today or tomorrow I'll get some pics and info for you... cool car, pretty fast, but comfortable as hell.

If you could get where he got his parts that would be killer. Im having a bitch of a time! Also, yeah the sc400 was built to stay with the lexus refined smooth ride. But also built as a sports coupe. Cant wait to throw in a 6speed manual

Why would you want to rice out a lexus? I own a gs 400 and ls 430 currently, great cars.

There's a big difference between rice out and improve. Can you show me the AMG or Dinan equiv for Lexus? The car still has body roll, and a soft suspension (for my driving style), the engine is way underpowered for its potential. But I like silent power, with a suspension that will handle windy roads at 120+. ;) Just me.

                    I built a SC300 with 2JZ (supra motor swap).

I'm not sure, but pretty confident, it's ALOT more work in a SC400.

Car put down 530whp at 26psi of boost on a T61-ish turbo.

Stock 2jz motor, stock heads, stock cams, etc. Big turbo, more fuel, cams, and an intake would be putting down high 700, low 800whp range.

If you need any help, imports in general, feel free to let me know. I don't like RICE cars, I like fast cars.

We have the same style. One of my buddies who im rebuilding the car with has full plans laid out for a 1400bhp supra. Im not sure if i want to go with a custom twin turbo or supercharger. turbo is much more in my taste.

More importantly Brad, I like the feel of the way the sc400 rides. I know its smooth at 165, but why wouldn't I want to be able to hit 220 if I want? Why stick with a vanilla mold car when you can build one that you know like the back of your hand at any speed?

                          Cool.

I'm building a 650whp Eclipse now (2g FWD) for my personal car. Should be able to hang with the nastiest of Supra's up top. Should be racing PRO/AM FWD class in NHRA/IDRC next year with it. Should be runnin' any day now, just PITA waiting for all these little fittings, etc.

Could you put a short comparation list of turbo and supercharger?
I know small bits about each (turbo "goes" on exaust gases and supercharger is connected by belt to .. hmm other mechanical parts that spin, lol, I don't know how to translate to english ) right?
Also, from my personal experience, (used to drive an old Audi 200 turbo, not driving a VW Corrado G60 (supercharged)) I like the supercharger more because it works instantly and even on low rpms, while turbo needs a sec or two to kick in
(I am talking about stock turbo and G-ladder supercharger, don't know about those custom and aftermarker gadgets)

I had a SC400. I threw 18" MOMOs on it. Looked really good until I split it in half on the highway. The car's strength saved everyone's life but to this day I think the thinner sidewalls had something to do with the accident.

If I had it to do again, I would have kept it stock...or pretty close to stock. They are beautiful cars with no additions.

Turbo will generally provide a greater overall power increase (albeit yes the larger the turbo the greater the turbo lag, but that is easily beatable by either using a smaller turbo or spooling your turbine up with a small shot of NOS if you're really going out).

Both are forced induction into the motor, however a supercharged forces oxygen directly into the manifold and yes is belt driven. For drag or overall power turbo is my preference. Also, you can electronically controll the ammount of boost/ppsi with a turbo, then so increase the life of the turbine you add a purge valve that dumps excess boost into the atmosphere between shifts.
