Yeah Lord Assmore, ole Bill Gates is looking to take over a new market. He actually had his hands in on the Sega Dreamcast. After that taste, he probably just wanted to taste the market on his own. I think that it's good to have another competetor in the market. Now that Sega is gone, someone else needs to pop up to keep everyone on their toes.

I hope it lives up to the hype. Microsoft budgeted supposedly close to 1B hyping up that thing. Now, I'd be more surprised if they spent that money on development instead of hype. Then we'd have kick ass consoles.

I dont buy ANY microsoft product when it first comes out. You'll be playing a racing game and it will crash after every lap.

slick's right. the xbox is going to rock. it's going to be the first system out with a graphics card more powerful than the best PC card out at the same time (since PC's had hardward accelarated graphics routines that is).

the xbox system itself is being sold for cheaper than it's worth, just so they can claim a hugh portion of the gaming market. kinda like giving away IE to put out netscape. don't underestimate microsoft! the system is easy to develop for and they have a shitload of developers working on it already.

however, it an attempt to make sure the public knows the xbox is not a PC, they won't be releasing a mouse / key*********bo for it. this means that FPS's are still going to be better on the PC. i'll kick anyone's ass in UT or a similar game if they're using a joypad and i'm using a mouse / key*********bo.

on the otherhand, the ps2 and gt3 fucking rock as well. i might get a ps2 just for that game alone. i'll never get an xbox though, cuz i own a PC already and games like halo and the likes will probably come out on the PC later on anyway... and i hate FPS games using a joypad.

I agree, DarkJedi - just in the price of PC's, but you cannot underestimate the X-box. MS has put a 1/2 billion in advertising in it, and plans on not making a profit for 5 years. Imagine that. Who else could do it but MS. They are going to put it on the shelves the day after the game cube comes out at the same price as the game cube, despite being far superior - this means they are selling it almost at cost. Pretty fucking amazing what the company can do with so much money to 'waste'.

I love the PS2 and GT3, but the x-box is going to rock for all the reasons of my previous post. There won't be anything to compare to it except PCs. And with the support of DirectX, developers can develope for both at the same time - quite a lot of time saved - and more minds working on games for the system than any other console (or PC), so more games and minds means more awesome games to choose from. Despite the fact that you'll be buying the technology almost at cost... where else can you do that in the computer field?

Don't get me wrong, though, GT3 rocks, and if no one gets their act together for the consoles other than PS for racers, it may remain the best driving game after the next 2 generations of consoles
