I didn't "opt-in" to his list. Which means he either bought my e-mail from another source, or he's doing some kind of e-mail harvesting. At any rate, since I did not opt-in, ANY mailing from him to me is SPAM.

I normally just hit the delete button and get on with work, but since he was kind enough to include a link to GFY in his e-mail, I figured I'd drop by his thread and say hello.

From the other stories posted it's obvious spamcop causes some legit businesspeople some problems.

Anyway I was a diehard spammer for a few years and never had problems with spamcop.

A: SpamCop "larting" is the generation of ONE REPORT per ONE SPAM, so to start off, you lied or made that up. If you got 2000-3000 reports per mailing, your lists cannot be "all optin" or "clean", as several others, including NetRodent have already called you on!

B: ANY legitimate complaint TO SPAMCOP will get a notice sent TO THE REPORTER with the details you provide. I have accidentally reported someone I had opted in on: I got a notice of the complaint from SpamCop showing MY optin and that I had sent a spam report before the remove request went through. I acknowledged it and the ISP was notified that I had errred in my report. And ANY SpamCop user caught making false or abusive reports is immediately warned and or blocked from using the system. Julian is ABSOLUTELY a totally honest guy with no hidden agenda.

In fact, he recently upset MANY of us SpamCop users by upgrading his software so as to REDUCE erroneous reports. If the email reported is not correctly forwarded to SpamCop and the software cannot decipher it ACCURATELY, the system won't generate a report at all. Many of us have to use MANUAL LART reports when the system cannot read a Spam accurately enough.

C: most of your brethren use optout links and emails to harvest more names for spam. SpamCop won't give out reporter's info UNLESS the ISP in question will not accept "munged" reports. In that case, the SpamCop user has to choose whether or not to reveal their contact info (I do unless the ISP is obviously a SPamhauseN). We users HAVE noticed that you spamheads have started to "SEED" emails with codes and repeated uses of our user Ids so you can spam us even AFTER we have reported you. Hence Spamcop does not give YOU the name of the Reporter. However, as stated above, your legitimate complaint (and yeah, you have 1000s I am SURE) will get kicked back to the reportee for verifying.

D: bet you don't have the BALLS to post either the IP or the site names used in your "pure as snow" lists. Why is it that my gut says ALL your emails are listed in SPEWS or Spamhaus??? No way ANY clean emailer gets 2000-3000 reports per mailing. I DARE you to post some samples. (Or can someone do so for us ??)

E: if you hit a SPAMTRAP, sorry Charlie, you are just a LIAR. These are blind email addresses seeded at random and never used. Some aren't even created or controlled by Julian. Any emails that hit these addresses HAVE to be created with generators.
