If I am not mistaken, it is documented that Tesla actually invented a lot of stuff before Edison, however Edison ended up reaping all of the awards.

I have an unauthorized autobiography from him. I used to have it in digital form, but now I only have it on paper. But it is some of the craziest reading you can do. Nobody knows if it's really from him or not, but if it's not, the person that wrote it is a genius as well. It talks of all kinds of expirements, and observation since childhood.

If anybody has it in digital form, I'd love to get a copy. And if anybody needs a copy on paper, let me know. I'll find a way to get it to you.

I cannot believe that you guys in US schools don't hear about Tesla.. There was a really interesting documentary on Discovery about Tesla and those fights about patents with Edison and Marconi. If anyone here reads actual books (those paper things, not ebooks ) get one about Tesla's inventions, he did some really cool stuff (like creating earthquakes with a gadget not much bigger than an alarm clock etc)..

I'm a big fan of Tesla. There are rumors of inventions that he made that the government kept secret. Edison came out with the AC type of electricity and Telsa came out with the DC type (I think I got that right). He is also the main reason for radio. I heard he was working on a project to send electricity through the air (like radio instead of wires like now) before he died. So instead of getting your electricity from all these wires, it would go directly to your house or object kinda like radio waves do. Edison is the most popular inventor in the US, but Telsa probably did more for the modern world as far as inventions then anybody else.

I am a Tesla fan too. True genius.

The one that fucked him the most was not Marconi neither the goverment, but Edison, one big son of a bitch.

His stuff got confiscated because he was investigating how to develop free electricity. He believed there could be a way to harness power just out of thin air and developed many models.

By the end of his life he lost some of his spark and his investigations were the cause of laugh among academics... But what do these know, anyway?

For those outside of the U.S. the reason we don't hear about Tesla in the U.S. is because we're a bunch of crooked bastards who allowed scumbags like Edison and the rest to rip him off. Then we kept our mouths shut about it and allowed companies like GE build plants and dump gillions of tons of PCBs into the Hudons River killing god knows how many people with cancers just so we could get a kickback from the power brokers.

That said, you probably won't hear us Americans chatting about many unsung innovators. It's against the law here in the U.S. to do so.

You shoulda heard CoasttoCoastam.com last night ( formerly the ARt Bell Show ). Had a dude on talking my favorite subject: Suppressed Technologies.

You'ld be stunned to find out what has been invented but the inventor either got whacked, bought off, threatened or OWNED.

Sucks we still have to die from old age, cancer, diseases, and we still use cars with wheels, gasoline, planes that can crash and other shit that's been obsolete since the 1930's

Edison invented the electric chair to prove how dangerous AC was. Instead we used it to execute people.
I think this was part of the infighting between Tesla and Edison.

As far as I know, DC is actually more dangerous. Since AC reverses polarity several times per second, it tends to make limbs convulse rather than freeze. I've been electrocuted before through one hand, and both times my arm was 'thrown' painfully away from my body. If it was DC I probably would have been fried.

Of course DC by itself isn't dangerous - you won't die if you stick your tongue on a 9V battery... but if you connect your tongue to 1000VDC you'll most likely have some problems

It is much worse to be hit by DC than by AC, all other things being equal. With AC, there is the chance the person will get knocked on their ass, and saved further electrocution. DC locks you up and you keep on cooking.

The more you read the more amazing you realize his genius...

I read that he found the resonating frequency of a building being constructed (the metal skeleton) -- he attached a small device to the building... If you know how waves amplify -- well anyway... it caused an earthquake... If I remember correctly that's when the feds stormed his lab and confiscated most of his research...

One of the last things he was working on before he died -- was a sort of energy tower that would transmit electricity through the air... essentially you would have free "wireless" power anywhere you needed it... so for example you could have electric cars being powered in such a manner... These are all rumors but you can imagine special-interest would not want this technology loose -- obvious implications -- would adversly affect: automotive/oil/military structures

The early scientists -- the guys that came up with the idea for the "meter" -- these scientists were like magician/philosophers... they were thinkers... they played the dual role -- the left/right brain... these days you got all the engineering kids doing fucking book work and repetitive math problems... and real inventors get shut down pretty quick by special interest because nobody wants to rock the boat... I swear public education today is a big fucking joke... my favorite classes in highschool were geometry, physics, and computer programming -- because I had GOOD teachers that encouraged us to solve problems without giving us a formula... It's called using your fucking brain... then I get to college and it just got retarded... problem solving was not even an issue -- it was all memorization, formulas, and whoever could regurgitate the shit the fastest... I think part of the problem is these fucking parents demanding A's for their kids... because if mommy and daddy spend $1000's for their retarded children to get a diploma, real intelligence is no longer an issue... it's about money and following a formula to get that diploma... A real creative person that likes to invent things I think is better off in an sculpture program taking technical classes on the side as electives in some kind of interdisciplinary program... that way you get "hands on" experience with real tools so you can build your ideas... Supposedly the Russians (nee Soviets) had a series of weapons programs based on Tesla's discoveries.
