Got jury duty - how do I get out of it?
Anyone know?
Someone told me to say that I am in business for myself etc. and that it would be a hardship for me financially.

You know if you act all crazy and say "Whoever it is, I'm just going to vote guilty!" They will take you out of it.... Seriously... but they might throw you in some care center

just go....when they call you up and introduce the premise of the case, they will ask you if there is a conflict of interest. then you just tell them that you can't stand lawyers, or you were involved in a similar crime or something and they will dismiss you on the spot. and then you'll get 2-3 years without being bothered by jury duty again

They sent me some card and on the card it says that if you wish to be dismissed call this number 5 days before your reporting date. So I need something to say on the phone. I should have been more clear.

Just go and do your freaking duty ..Nothing personal, but everyone always bitches about this or that, then they never want to do their part. Just think maybe someday you may need a jury of you're peers. I'm guessing you might want some decent people to sit on that jury, instead of some piece of shit that was too stupid to figure a way out, or better yet just wants the paycheck..In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.Comment

First..forget that excuse about financial hardship..they wont buy it..trust me because I just got called in for jury duty about a month ago and tried that myself.
Your best bet is to show up and..
A. Hope you dont get selected (happened to me and I got off)
B. If you do get selected, you still will be 'interviewed' by the attorneys, ect. Say that you are racist, strongly believe in capital punishment, ect. Things of that nature..

Well, when I went and did my jury duty that just happened to be the case.. (no pun intended) I had a floor cleaning biz at that time, and one of the trials was expected to be several weeks long.
