Wow, Avalon pier. I spent every summer in Kill Devil Hills, NC when I was growing up. Hadn't even thought about that pier in many years. The pier used to be a meeting spot, before we'd hit the parties.
I don't get these people that have houses right on the beach like they've been showing on the news all morning. Especially the poorly constructed looking ones on stilts. That's just begging to be owned.
I thought it was going to miss us in Jersey and go west of us. Now it looks like we will have a tropical storm soon.
I wonder if Allah did this cuz he doesn't like us infidels.

And of course my house is on a wooded lot... so i wouldnt be supprised if a tree goes through my house.. ahhh!
GeX if you have some plywood you should put it by your window from the inside just to be safe. We had a tropical storm here a few years back and the winds weren't even at hurricane strength and a tree branch blew, broke off and went smack into this neighbors home office window. He didn't get hurt, but his office got all fucked up.

Yeah thats a good idea, but i dont have any plywood.. and i have way to many windows to board up them all.. Im just going to hope for the best and cross my fingers.. My office is the basement.. so ill be fine down here if anything does happen..

For over a week. They all start off the west coast of Africa. I saw when this was forming and it took shape way ahead of when they usually start to get that twirl look, so I figured this was a big one for sure.
Looks like footage from the movie the Perfect Storm

Cool.
I always just thought the water would be much choppier that close to a storm. I've never seen a tornado, or a hurricane, and none have ever passed by Cali, so I don't know.
But like in the first images above the water is blowing up on shore and looks choppy as hell, and the hurricane seems way off in the distance. In this pic the water is as calm as hindu cows. Strange.
