.com, .net, .org, or .gfy?

If you are looking for a domain that people will remember and come back to - a .com is essential.

If you are doing galleries, freesites, or whatever - a .net and .org are pretty much just as good. I use domains with word1-word2.net and org all the time and get good listings on google.

As google is the only major engine left that you can get a good spot on for free - I would ignore the others.

.net and .org are fine. I would stay away from .cc and stuff like that as it may confuse some people. You can get good .net and .org names. I have gotten, for example in the last month or so, photo-personals.net - hardcore-pics.org and xxx-sex.net (or maybe it was org) - which work fine for Google and link lists.

But if you want to make a tgp - stick with no dashes and .com.

People will have a hard time remembering it otherwise.

The ones I'm looking for right now are for AVS sites.... and I just registered a .net. I didn't figure it would make much difference for AVS, as theyy list them in their main sites listing, plus I will be promoting them through TGP gallerys with links anyway... I just want 'em to sign up. Couldn't really care less if they ever come back.

If you ever want a good laugh - go to ebay and checkout what some of the morons want for their domains.

It is even funnier than the morons who stop by here on the way to their WAREZ boards or whatever.

It isn't as bad as it was - people wanting $190 Million dollars for www.webhostingfordoctors.com and stuff.

Even better were the ones saying that you would have to be the domain transfer as well. Yeah right, I'd through in a blow job for $190 Million dollars.
