I don't know that the number of episodes is necessarily related to how good the show is. Fawlty Towers only made twelve episodes but I don't think that means a show that made 500 is better; just longer
What I mean is that Fawlty Towers ended because it ended, not because it wasn't good enough to keep going. I've always been disappointed that are not more than a dozen episodes of Fawlty Towers but at least they went out on a high note. Many shows linger around well past their prime but every single episode of Fawlty Towers was genius from beginning to end.

One of the things I like about Blackadder is that they made a lot of episodes. Red Dwarf I like but I have actually listened to more episodes as audiobooks and radio theater than I have watched on TV. I am not familiar with the other two shows you listed but I do like "Are You Being Served".
