    dirty little fuckers

I've just had some people from LiveJournal.com link to my gallery site. I know they're not going to sign up to anything, and I know that this will happen more and more as my sites become better known, but it doesn't make it any less annoying.

the page I found from my referrers is:
    http://www.livejournal.com/community...25/180001.html

it's the latest post to this LJ community:

    http://www.livejournal.com/community/kaizersoze125/

I just got around to updating my .htaccess to stop people at least hotlinking the images, but should I stop people from loading my galleries from bookmarks, and ban livejournal.com?

banning livejournal.com isn't likely to do any good, because they'll just copy and paste the URL.

but will stopping direct linking to my html pages be cutting off my nose to spite my face?

edit: oh yeh, and his email address is [email protected]

You don't want people coming to your site? This is free advertising. A big plus to most of us.

If you stopped hotlinking to your images, enjoy the free traffic they give you.

Or if its such an issue redirect live journal surfers to dialers or some other sponsor.

I partially agree, but the problem is that these people put up links on their community, sometimes directly to videos. They also trade passwords on their community by the looks of it.

The problem I have with that is that they are freeloaders. pure and simple. of course, so are 90% of the people that visit TGPs, but at least by directing them thru my site I have the advantage of pushing advertising at them, and trying to coax them into joining.

the hotlinking of images, I don't see how that can gain me free advertising/traffic. They just want the pix.

turns out that the guy who runs this community, and the owner of the email address I gave wants to run his own TGP. This was his little inroad to the adult biz. I'm not the only webmaster who has gotten pissed off at his tactics, and he says that some were quite vengeful...

so he wants to be a webmaster. all I can do is steer him in the right direction and hope he learns the error of his ways.

No offense man, but don't be a shmuck. Livejournal, and other blogs, are the main driving force of google's pagerank. The more journal/blog links you get the better you do in search engines.
