I think you are in for some shock and awe. They will IMO target companies that many people here consider being mainstream. I do agree with you that they won?t go after something as tame as playboy, but I wouldn?t be surprised to see them go after anyone that does anything more than one white male on one white female type sex. It is actually better for most of us if the big players get involved. They have the funds to adequately defend themselves and a successful defense at the appellate level will benefit all of us.

Some of the pornmeisters aren't gonna learn til they're sittin' up in some courtroom tryin' to spout the constitution to twelve people and a judge who can't access their computers because they're full of pop-up ads, porn spam and dialers.

Obscenity is NOT protected by the first amendment. Obscenity is somewhat arbitrary but there's no community in the U.S. that finds the gross shit on some porn sites acceptable except maybe some gang hangout or congressional after party joint.

Yeah, SOME comics are dead. Mainstream stuff but that's due to the avalanche of 'hack' poser books that came out in the mid nineties.

Too many speculators in editorial positions and too many psych drugged editors with rotten marriages overseeing shit.

Add to that burnt out talent using cheap gimmicks instead of good storytelling and grossly restrictive distribution and it's sorta like what's happening to the U.S. now.

Sex in comics should be funny, not gross. That's the difference. Humor automatically takes it into the 'art' genre and not the shlock genre.

Lotta comics guys who use print for their sex comics can't anymore because of Texas' case that screwed a dude that sold an adult an adult comic. Dude lost at the Supreme Court level as the SC upheld the lower court's decision.

The web is different. All my toons have stories/themes and lotsa laffs.

That's what's protected Playboy, Hustler, Penthouse all these years cause they just don't do porn, they've had some groundbreaking articles, expose's, interviews that matched any mainstream news.

This is going to be interesting to watch because it'll show the state of the legislative branch of our government on a very touchy issue.

Don't EVEN get me started on 'Spirit Of Justice'. I drew a three issue mini-series called 'Lady Justice' that was created by one of modern day comics' best writers, Neil Gaiman. That was at a company called Tekno Comics. We had all the top talent there from Leonard Nimoy, Mickey Spillane, Gene Roddenberry, John Jakes, etc.

It was a rockin' series about gang girls in L.A.

Considering the amount of violence in the book I guess it could be considered obscene. But then again, any accurate history book or most religous books contain everything they're complaining about regarding obscenity.

Here's another reason for the crackdown: Election Year.

Problem: Porn sites get an enormous amount of traffic and attention by the public. If pornmeisters got radical/political, if pornstars got radical/political, those viewpoints barraging the populace every second of the day via the web could seriously damage a candidate's chances.

They gotta put ya outta business or you'll do something dangerous like take on some civic responsibility.

This is just a thought, but what if the billers (Ibill, CCbill, Epoch etc).. could somehow, through their billing records, prove that a certain percentage of the community actually has slightly lower standards than they would have you believe
