Do you work with your significant other?

How many of you work with your wife/husband or boyfriend/girlfriend in this biz?

I'm curious how that affects your work day and your home life.

On one hand I can see the benefits in that you do get to spend more time together, and its hard to talk about your day in this business with someone who's not in this business, because most people don't understand what it is that we do all day.

On the other hand it might be too much time together, and you'll end up killing each other.
Plus a fight at home carries over to work and vice versa.

my girl is anti work, she sees me on my computer and does everything in her power to get me off of it..

me and my boyfriend work together and have been for quit some time now, we don't really have any problems with it and if we do have a fight we dont let it effect our work, that's the deal and it works fine. we are happy working together and even thou we do spend all our day together we work and therefore we don't focus on each other ever min of the day.. we both have the same goal and have lots of things to talk about after work, since we share the same passion about our company. i thinks it's great!

My significant other and I started our first site together. She was the star. I ran the business, but she modeled and shared the big decisions, and some of the small ones too.

A couple of days ago, she broke up with me. It will change everything. The business will survive, in an evolved form. It's a shame to have to deal with the business end of a break-up. It was great being able to work together, though, at least sometimes.

My wife and I statred our business together five years ago, selling scenes to big porno companies. At first she was sort of against it....until I showed her the money. (and stopped fucking the talent )
Now nither of us have had a "job" for the last 2 years and we love working together. It's "the only way to fly" for us.

my fiance tried working with me, but he hates porn. so it was no fun for him at all. he went back to working with what he does, no harm, no foul.

the result of him trying it was that i can still lean over to him when i see a person i think would be great for my sites, and whisper "content" to him and he laughs.

we didn't fight at all, and we loved having the time together, but if a person is actively uncomfortable, they can't keep doing it. at least trying has made him the only non webmaster that knows what i'm talking about when i talk about my day ;-)

Glad to see so many people are doing this and are happy about it.

Now another question, did you get your significant other involved in this business? Or were they already in and that's how you met?

My fiance' is asking me to show her how to do things because she would like to work with me full time down the road.

I have to think this through really long and hard.....lots of pros and cons plus training people is a real pain in the ass

Yes but just think, free labor! Delegation of tasks to someone else can increase your own productivity, especially if she doesn't mind doing some of the things you find tedious, but are neccessary.

My hubby and I have worked together both in mainstream and adult for almost 4 years now. Although i'm in adult full time now and he's only doing it part time in the evenings and weekends currently we are really hoping that he will get to move into this full time and get away from the mainstream. Although, I don't recommend this for everyone. We spend 24/7 together other than when he is at work. When we worked mainstream together we spent 24/7 together. You really have to like the person that you're going to work with and be willing to put your relationship on the proverbial chopping block. If my hubby and I didn't have such a fun and wonderful relationship it never would have worked. I guess step back and ask yourself if you can spend every moment of every day with this person without "needing" to be away from them.

That's one way to look at it...the other side of the coin is that she'd be giving up her current salary.....so she'd have to be productive enough to increase our business by AT LEAST that much.

And that probably won't be the case while she's still learning
