For those who like to get the pulse on what is about to break in Music....The Detroit scene is blowing up right now and has been building steady momentum for about five years.
You will see the Detroit scene mirror the kind of frenzy that the Seattle scene experienced in the early 1990's
The White Stipes are just a glimpse of what is coming out of Detroit.
Oh BTW BP.....The CD is probably the best i have purchased since Queens of the Stone Age or Audioslave....actually i think it may even be better.

Yup, The Music were big earlier this year in the UK. We are getting the second wave of Detroit stuff now..most on the back of the White Stripes.
ISnt Kid Rock from there too.

yeah they all are........ and they are having a profound impact on breaking new talent from the area.......I am from there originally before I moved out west in 89.
It is cool to see the Rock revival coming out of the Motor City.

Nothing funnier than people 'getting back into rock' when it never really died.
That was my only point.
I go to punk shows, and rock shows all the time.
Rock is life not whats making the charts.
I say, how many times a week you rocking in a bar to AC/DC? Or how many rock shows do you go to in a month'
I try to do it 3 times a week myself, if I had the money id be out every night. fuck talking about rock, go out and get drunk at a show. THAT is rock, not whats on the radio.
Originally posted by LAJ This is your first exposure of The White Stripes?
Seriously... I have had the CD for 6 months and they have been dropping this track on the radio at least once an hour for even longer than that. I figured everyone had heard them by now.

Street Walking Cheetahs
The Stooges are blood.
I hear ya....it is cool for me to see los Angeles starting to Rock out again....it has never died it just went a little under the masinstream Radar...I was fortunate to have seen what the Sunset Strip was like back in the late 80's early 90's
The places to see and be seen were the Troubador...Gazarri's....The Rainbow bar and Grill....The Whiskey a go go etc.
The music scene here has been pretty lame and i have taken notice to how popular the scene is getting again.....it was a blast when Harley's and hot chicks ruled the strip and the harder the music the bigger the crowd...I think L.A. is due to have a kick ass Rock scene that dominates the strip again....
This is wghat I mean by a comeback...this shallow little town of ours could benefit from turning up the distortion a little

yup, too true. Go to any of the rock/metal nights at the mean fiddler in London and see how bands that never get played on the radio still sell out venues and have audiences that know every word. I love those shows because it is all about the music and the energy the crowd gets from it.

I still get drunk and go to shows at the Troubador, was just there.
And I STILL kick it at both the Rainbow and Whiskey. Hell my friends play these places now.
If you think the hollywood rock scene sucks its really because you honestly arent involved in it anymore. Youre talking about the 80s and 90s. This isnt Motley Crue days anymore here.
I have been studying the rock scene here for years and its one of the most happening rock and punk towns in the united states.
I get the LA weekly every thursday and can pull up 50 bands I wanna go see.
NOWHERE else can you do this.
If youre waiting for Aerosmith crap, yeah this town sucks. But in no way is the rock or punk scene dead here.
i could sprout off 20 local bands right now that none of you have heard of and that totally kick ass.
this city IS ROCK man, you just aint gonna find it at the Rainbow, there are way better places to hang but they are hole in the walls and have the best bands and music.
yeah Im not as young as i was....I am too lazy now to go hunt the scene down...my point was it WAS the scene back then...you did not have to find it it was everywhere

And my point is, IT STILL IS. You just arent involved in it anymore homie, you said so yourself.
Most people arent. But its STILL the scene homie.
Every band I know, or musician or engineer has dreams of coming to LA. That dream has NEVER changed. This IS the scene to make it in.
I picked up the hobby of taking photographs at rock shows a very long time ago. So im that drunk fuck with the camera trying to get to the front to get pics of the band ;) Ill never stop going to shows or going out and pushing my way through drunken crowds of kids no matter how old I get.
