It just about at Category 5 now which is the highest intensity level on the scales. Looks huge on this full size sat pic.

Snow.........I haven't seen that in so long. I can't stand the summer temperatures down here. Having Sunny 90 degree Christmas Mornings just doesn't feel the same.Originally posted by Gemini

I was here for Andrew .. in Pembroke Pines .. it was heading straight for us .. but then it went a little south and we lucked out .. If you're east of US1 and its a cat 3 or above I think you're supposed to come west .. There are hurricane evac. routes available online .. Click HereOriginally posted by Hairetsu
looks like it will go above me =) not sure supposed to go west or some shit. =\ I hate this season. anyone here for Andrew? back in what 92? I thinkit was then I am not to wide awake ight now~Butrflied~Comment

Done both and would rather do the hurricane. You get warning with the 'cane, unlike the quake. 0 to 7.1 on the Richtor scale is no fun at allOriginally posted by AlienQ
I'll take an earthquake anyday over a hurricane.
Fuck that shit.
Somebody stole my damn signture...Comment

I would be surprised if Isabel hits Florida, I think the Carolina's have some concerns.....the milibars are 921 at 5PM, Hurricane Andrew hit at 920 millibars, but the cane should weaken a little now that its in cooler waters, prolly will drop back to a Cat 4 or Cat 3 soon.....Comment

I've lived near the coast in Florida my whole life -- never seen a Hurricane... The very worst I've seen some dead branches get blown off trees...
The only people really at risk are those around Miami... at the southern tip the storms still have momentum from the ocean... the hurricane needs the water to be able to do damage... but everyone down there is prepared -- it's a routine: if the storm gets real close, put up your hurricane shutters and take a day-trip... Most of the time the storms fizzle out to nothing once they reach land or they make a sudden turn and go up the coast where they lose their strength.Comment

Only the eye of the storm does damage... so the diameter of the storm isnt' really that important...Originally posted by KRL
