No Pearl Harbor wasn't OK, especially since it was essentially the "first stone". Like I said, we had the right to drop bombs, but the targetting was a disaster that we should never be proud of

Don't you love how you can sit in the privacy of your home and post how disappointed you are in your government?

If you were living in Iraq 8 months ago, you probably would have been shot and thrown in a mass grave with the other people who had opinions Saddam didn't like, for saying something along those lines.

I'm tired of hearing how disappointed and disapproving people are with the US government. Maybe we should be grateful for what we have and not scrutinize every little move the nation makes. The government is not perfect and I am not an expert on defense, so I trust THEY know what they are doing.

In fact, that should have been on " the list" way before Iraq. After all, this thread is about 9/11 and most of the terrorists on board were Saudis... financed by Saudis.. with as commander a Saudi ( Osama )...

But we all know that G.W. Bush is not very good with maps....

My point is, a lot of people focus on the mistakes and things they don't approve of and hardly ever appreciate what they do have. I'm not saying, you should totally agree with every law and motion the government makes, but you can at least be grateful for the good things. Some people make a career out of bashing the US, yet they still nest on it's soil and take for granted all the opportunities and freedoms given to them.

How can you can compare innocent people jumping out of burning buildings to avoid being burned to death with the death two brutal people who tortured a nation for decades? What the hell kind of logic is that?

Comparing reactions of humans toward " premature" deaths... Now you want to add all the baggage of " they tortured, they gased, evil ,etc..." , this just clouds your perspective...

Did they torture YOU, YOUR parents, or in YOUR house... probably not. So why do you project yourself in other peoples that you know nothing off to justify your thinking...

Anyway, let's just hope that events like these are not be repeated... but I doubt it.

Yeah there probably should have been US troops on the ground at Tora Bora when we knew Osama was there but the administration didn't want to risk a lot of US casualties on the ground right after 9/11. It was a mistake but an understandable one.
As for Iraq. Saddam hates the US. For instance he had artists paint pictures of the burning WTC towers. Saddam was sitting on billions of $s in oil. North Korea has developed nukes and is desperately in need of money. Saddam started a war. He agreed to conditions for a ceasefire. He didn't live up to those conditions. Ceasefire over.

Irrelevant. They tortured, raped, and murdered. Why wouldn't anyone be happy they died? There simply is no rational comparison between the reactions over their deaths and the deaths of innocent people.

You obviously don't realize that this is exactly what THEY base their war on. To them, you are not innocent people... so they try to kill you.

Ever wonder why it is aimed so precisely to the Americans.. Do you hear them threaten the Italians as an example, or the Spaniards...

Ever wonder why it is aimed so precisely to the Americans.. Do you hear them threaten the Italians as an example, or the Spaniards...

Hmm... I thought you were comparing the reactions of some canadians over the deaths of the WTC victims with american reactions to the deaths of Saddams sons.

In regard to THEY and THEIR opinions of us. What do you propose we do. Attempt to appease them? Change our foreign policy in hopes Osama will start to like us and want to be our buddy? Fuck them. They want a war. They got it.

This is why smack is such a good friend of mine... he can actually differenciate a senseless attack and a problem that needs to be taken care of.

Under the surface, the war with Iraq may have been oil initiated. Iraq and the other Gulf regions have close to 70% oil reserves in the world. The US imports 60% of our oil from the middle east. The war with Iraq was long overdue. How can we possibly let someone like Saddam have so much control over what we need so badly? I wouldn't appreciate a criminal in this country having power over things I rely on daily, while they murder and torture others daily, much less a dictator across the seas.

War is unfortunate and devastating and you would think, with all the technology we have, we wouldn't have to resort to battles. We may never reap the benefits of it all in our lifetime, but I firmly believe it had to be taken care of.

I wouldn't want the President's job... I wouldn't want to serve in the military. It takes a lot of sacrifice and I appreciate those who do it.
