I had a 2.4, it was very good until I got wireless networking (also runs on 2.4ghz) which interferes with it. That's why I got the 5.8.
I was in Bang & Olfsen (sp?!) the other day, and they had some nice (but pricey) 2.4ghz phones and he said they won't have a problem with the wireless networking. I may try one, or I may just go back to 900mhz.
