wanted to share a sad story

a friend of mine told me story today about his friend.

the guy works for some big company, and they sent him to some building for a meeting, but it was concidered training and was required.

before class started they mentioned it is critical to turn off all cell phones, so he did.

Well while he was at this meeting, his wife was home with their new born baby girl.

the baby was choking and could not breathe.

she called him and saw his phone was off, she tried again (i dont know why) and then hung up, panicked for 30 seconds and called 911 to call for ambulance or parametic or something.

by the time the ambulance got there it had been about 12 minutes or so and the baby was already dead.

doctors said the 2 minutes she spent trying to call her husband would have saved the childs life.

most people would have just dialed 911 first, but she didnt, i dont know why.

meanwhile now the day has passed and she is at hospital when the father leaves work, so she calls him on his cell phone which is now on and breaks the news to him.

he was speading home, and got into a car accident. he did not die, but he is very badly injured.

i feel so bad for this guy and his whife, tragic story.

i guess a few lessons one should take from this.

    1. always dial 911 first
    2. never break the news to your spouse until he is home
    3. always learn how to drive (she didnt have a license)

Agreed, because what is the husband going to do? You need 911 first!

and how about taking basic first aid classes if you find out you are pregant so you know how to help a choking child. I took those hospital babysitting classes before I ws even allowed to babysit and kid and half of it was spent teaching us how to help a choking baby.

Strangly a rather large portion of the rest of the time was spent teaching us what to do if they had scissors sticking out of their leg..eww.

Hmmm.. Choking and scissors stab wounds must be the leading cause of child injury these days. My how times have changed. We used to get hurt falling out of trees or riding bikes.

Well i was like 11 when I took the course...so it isn't exactly kids of today.

Kids stab themselves whilst running with sharp items all the time and always have and choking has always been a major cause for concern.
