But a little while ago, this is what I found in the back of my house, headed for my back deck where the grill is

I suspect your neighbors have probably unintentionally trained the bear to come to a grill for a free handout.

Yeah I know, I know... the dangers of feeding wild and stray animals. I found out the hard way, with the deer, the skunks, the porcupines and the possums.

The only neighbors I have with 1/4 mile of me, are these 2 dudes that like to shoot off guns when I am sleeping

Yep- thinking the EXACT same thing. We have a ton of them here in Fl, and I have NEVER heard of a positive bear/human interaction. My advice- get a dog, bears hate them, and the barking will make him so uncomfortable he' won't come back.

I want a dog... but I have 7 cats I tried calling the DEC/animal control... they said call the sheriff, the sheriff said they would only try to scare it away. I live in a town with 836 people and 35,000 acres of land It takes the sheriff dept. a good 20-30 mins to get here... I hope I'm never getting attacked by the bear!

Living in the boonies, is cool... for a 3 day weekend! I can't wait to move into a BIG city. 2000+ people woo hoo! lol ... I don't even have cable TV out here... only DirecTV.
