there was a story in the newspaper here in the uk about it, a lot of the top footballers in this country are buying places out there. if it's the place i'm thinking of the island is in the shape of a pal tree. it's going to be very exlusive apparently, although if it attracts the rich and famous westerners i would think it would be a prime target for terrorists.Originally posted by quiet

Closest I came was Dhahran KSA, not the same vibe at all LOL...

I been to the UAE 3 times, Dubai 2 times back in '92
It?s a very "new" city, you will have 2 or 3 blocks of building and empty lots of sand dunes for a block than more city.
Very High British population and LOTS of $100k cars.
They have alot of "American" places like Mcd's, KFC etc etc.
And they also can have a nasty sand storm.
It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn?t want to live there.
