If you process checks don't open your email tonight if you don't wanna be in a bad mood.

It seems they didn't account for the returned checks correctly for a period of just over a month and they are being deducted from your next 2 pay checks.

It all adds up to quite a stinger

i was wondering why we had so many returned checks all of a sudden. didn't make much of an impact on the gross. glad they figured it out.

online checks is a problem. i had some loser yelling at me because his username stopped working. his check for a $99 annual membership was returned. hmm wonder why it dont work?

To clarify that email:

The returned checks have been coming back normally and have been reported in your stats all along. The only issue is that our accounting system did not actually deduct the funds from your checks. Therefore, those clients that received this email have actually had money that should have been reversed long ago. We are deducting back in two portions to try and reduce the hit they will feel.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

yeah... its bad enough that we have to deal with a 90% return rate on checks, but to find out weeks later is just a double dong fucking. haha

SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

I agree - The safest way to go if you accept online checks is not to grant immediate access - Make the customer wait until the check clears - because by time the check bounces - they have had PLENTY of time to view and download everything from the members area!!

I would love to know why CCBill does not allow webmasters to decide whether or not to allow immediate access for customers paying with online checks?!

I asked this of WSB (when they were still processing) why they didnt offer this. They said the surfers probably wouldnt like it, they want instant access.

Thats fine and wonderful, get a debit card for christ's sake! I would love to be able to offer delayed access with the checks.

I also didnt have problems with WSB or globill with returned checks, only when I switched to ccbill. But, its still some money thats coming in, and I dont pay bandwidth :-)

Does this affect affiliates too? I noticed a refund in my stats yesterday, not unusual but reasonably rare these days. Just wondering if it's related.

It is my understanding that this did not affect affiliates, only a few paysite owners. Keep a few things in mind; checks can be used as a supplemental source of income. If you are concerned about check returns, you do have the ability to only offer the checking option on a credit card decline, if you would prefer not to have it as one of the initial choices?you can offer an online check alternative to your customers if you wish to

Also, CCBill does not charge its fee on returned transactions, so when a check transaction is returned, we have eaten all of the cost of the initial transaction plus the cost of the return?it is in our best interest to have as few returns as possible. We are exploring new tools for helping ?authenticate? checks better, so we do expect some improvements in the future.

Globill used to offer an option to allow webmasters to give the member instant access or to make them wait up to 10 days until the check clears. For our sites we used to make them wait. The result was about 50% less check sign ups, but zero fraud ? So to us that makes financial sense and as soon as another company offers this we will sign up !!!!.
So get to it guys, if Globill could do it i am sure someone else can ?

I should also say that Globills system was automatic . It added the member as soon as the check cleared, be it 5 days or 8 days. So we didnt have to do a thing.

I stopped checks months ago...I got sick of seeing deductions in my stats...Now when I get a signup, I know that ccbill scrubbed that card hard as shit and that I'll actually get the money...

I hated having to take my stats with a grain of salt because I knew that deductions were coming from the checks...

This is why I didn't get an email about the deductions....THANK GOD!

we asked achdeb 3 days ago (they said 24 hrs repsone...) maybe they have a better solution im getting tired of bounced checks as well, meanwhile everyone signing up with a check gets an email they need to reply to to state their check wont bounce

its not foolproof but at least they know theyre being tracked, fi they dont reply within 24 hrs ill disable their login. till now everyone who didnt reply had a bounced check, at least its giving me the satisfaction they didnt have access for more then 24 hrs... still sucks so ill wait on ach

I can pretty much tell by the surfers user/email whether it's gonna be fraud or not. The surfer below has an obvious fake address and he did a $54 membership. Also, many fraud check user's ip's begin with 172, 67 or 68. He's also got a long and obvious fake aol addy: [email protected] (not real addy / I blocked the last 3 digits). You get my point

I rather see checks as a security messure to prevent chargebacks. A hardcore cheater will sign up for your site if he wants to. If I offer him the easy check way why should he bother using a stolen card number.

My check returns are suprisingly low at about 6-8 % but there might be a report problem as the stats and the values CCBill provided does not match.
