Altough I've been to a favela in Sao Paolo, and it's not as scary as the film makes you think... but then again, this film happened a long time ago

Some favelas are scary, a few aren't. In 1999 my friend and I got into one for mistake while trying to grab some images with a video camera for a college work and we got lost there. Man, it scared us out.Originally posted by Gunni

It is about a group of brazilian slum kids that grow up to become gansters and one who emerges as a photo journalist that captures the wild and wicked ways of his childhood friends... true story... very well done...
I used to live in Venice Beach... on a street called "Brooks Ave" which someone cunningly changed into "Rock Ave"... gunfire was heard nightly. I was key witness in a murder trial for a guy that was killed in broad daylight. Cops once told me that they pulled dead bodies out of the neighborhood almost nightly.
