I agree to some extent: that method would be favorable for both the seller/buyer.

      HOWEVER
-whoring out your .exe is not the best idea.
-the risk of exposure, and the risk of possible server bypass attempts are just not worth it.
-REMEMBER: applications of such were designed to LOAD, so basically if it can load on ONE PC...it can load on ALL ( if you know what I mean )

So basically selling limited copies, gives you the security that you need as well as keeps everything in check.

I highly belive a person paying $10,000+ for an application will take the best care possible of that program.

        my thoughts on this...

a good chat bot could easily be worth $25k, if it works well. but its useless unless you understand HOW and WHY it works when others will not.

if he is making $1k a day then he has spent what i would guestimate at close to years in studying and fuckin with yahoo and all the protocols and shit involved. and thats why he makes money, yes you can go on elance or whatever and pay someone to code you a spammer, but they dont have the EXPERIENCE necessary to make one that WORKS. they can code it to your specs but what if it doesnt work in a week or a month, then your fucked. when you code it yourself its easy to fix and maintain, and there is a lot of maintaining to be done on a spamming method such as this.

i used to use an aimer, had 35 desktops on dial ups at my disposal, only used about 10 of them and we were rolling in the cash for a while, with dialers(which i now 100% disagree with(dialers that is)) but the work involved was very high compared to other methods, and without source code and the knowledge of how to use a packet sniffer and a GOOD if not excellant understanding of the methods invovled in delivering your spams, its just false security because at anytime they could change one little thing and your fucked.

just a few thoughts from me on the subject at hand, take them for what they are worth.

I agree compleatly, you must first have experience in anything before you go in uncharted waters.

ex: I have a friend who hired a group of russian coders, these were some pretty hardcore dudes as far as application programming went and their knoweledge of the internet/computers

Well they were attempting to make a chat bot (rather not say what service)

-this was a service they did not have much expereince in nor did they ever have experience coding any sort of fully automated Chat Bot.
-well turns out they figured out the majority of the login (took 1 1/2 months) however when it came down to figuring out ServerResponse/authentication/error handling and the Sending requirements they just gave up and bailed.

End Result: he was out $6,000
-he was forced to pay for their time
-he was sent the remaining files

Not the best story, but it gives you alittle idea as to how things are.

Alot of the profit you'd make from it is advertising skills too. I could make $1200+ a day with my yahoo bot a year or 2 ago easily but I had another friend I gave the program and he struggled to make anything.

Yup, I had similar experiences like this as well...it was mainly because the guys marketing strategy sucked ass.

What does a chat bot do exactly? Post advertising every minute in different threads? Post dozen of msg per minutes with a SIG making you money?

LOL. This is the funniest thread in a long time.
I really pity the guy who would spend $25k on a useless proggy.

                        several reasons:

                        a) Yahoo is changing the protocol almost every 2 weeks. They will be releasing version 10, which would almost kill off all 3rd party clients.

                        b) In order to chat you will be required to enter an alphanumeric passcode, (Turing test) which would make it IMPOSSIBLE for a bot
                        to get in to chat.

                        c) Its impossible to write an OCR to try to decipher to characters being displayed. Thats why it's called the Turing test and was developed in CMU.

                        d) This might've worked 2-3 years ago, but its shit worthless today, ask yourself why a guy is trying to get rid of it.
It's like charging $300 for Windows 3.1 that has 2GB limit on your HDDs, with no USB support, etc, etc.

                        e) Remember the guy trying to sell 100k hits for $400 with GUARANTEED hits? Generated some serious interest. Did anyone get 100K hits or make any money with it?

A fool and his money are soon parted. So, go ahead, buy the bot

We got out quick and asked for a refund early when it was apparent it was going to take a couple years to get our 100k to us not even considering the conversion guarantee. The traffic was bs, it was merely hype from him and a couple of his buddies to make a few bucks.
