No one was bragging about being drunk. If you drink a beer or too then you're intoxicated, right? No one was bragging about a BMW, it's nothing to brag about, it's just a car. I was merely noting how rigid the steering wheel is compared to my Lexus, that's all.
You people are just plain pathetic. I can understand all the drunk driving shit but give it a break already, no one was driving drunk. Yes, I had a beer or two or three but that's it! We have "parties" at my place quite often. Usually 10-20 people, mostly close friends or friends of friends. We drink, take shots, whatever. Nobody, and I mean nobody, leaves in any state of drunkenness. If they don't plan on spending the night, they stop drinking early or someone gives them a ride home.

Chances are you were technically guilty of drunk driving, unless you are well over 200 lbs or didn't drink very much at all.
It's scary how long alcohol can remain in your system. Apparently you burn about .01% every 40 minutes.
If a 160 lb man drank 10 beers rather quickly, as most people I know do, he would have to wait about 10 hours before they were down to the .08 blood alcohol level, which is still legally impaired in most areas. So if you go to bed at 2 o'clock in the morning you ain't driving nowhere for quite a while.Comment

We have all done it? Negative. I didn't learn to drive until I was about 25, and there's a requirement for a zero blood alcohol level for learners and probationary drivers. I stopped drinking completely at that time and even though I am now on a full licence and can legally go to 0.05, I very rarely drink alcohol. A swallow or two early in the night to get the taste is as far as I go.... then it's squash or water for the rest of the night.Originally posted by pauliewalnutz

about 3 or 4 years ago a friend of mine got nailed for drunk driving in Pennsylvania.
cost him $15,000 between all the lawyer fees and fines .
lost his license for 6 months.
and he spent a week in the 'big house " with all the bad guys
( sleep on your back).
he said it wasn't worth it.

I am in no way advocating drunk driving.
I simply stated that people regularly do OTHER things that impair their ability to drive and slow reaction times -- without blinking an eye -- and then get all high and mighty on this issue.
The second point made was drunk driving laws as they currently stand are designed as a revenue stream for municipalities, courts, and lawyers and no nothing to address this issue of keeping drunks off the roads.
Zero tolerance, forfeiture of vehicle, and permanent loss of driving privileges would decrease the number of drunks on the road.Comment
