Roger Ebert's Review of "Gladiator"

http://www.suntimes.com/ebert/ebert_...05/050501.html

I just read his review of "Gladiator" and was so incredulous I had to post it............2 Stars he gave it out of 4!

Quotes:

The film looks muddy, fuzzy and indistinct. Its colors are mud tones at the drab end of the palette, and it seems to have been filmed on grim and overcast days.

The story line is "Rocky" on downers.

It employs depression as a substitute for personality, and believes that if the characters are bitter and morose enough, we won't notice how dull they are.

Oh yeah.........but I forgot.........this is the same guy who gave "Hellboy" the equivalent amt. of stars as "Return of the King." I think Ebert, as bloated and full as he is with himself, has entered the realm of senility.
