I'm working on lowering my bandwidth fees. Right now I get $2.5/GB with NO overage fees. This is too high. What price per GB should I be expecting if I have NO overage fees at all?
$2.5/GB no overage fees too high?

No average fees? Huh? So if you use an extra 500 GB this month, you won't get charged extra?PHAT SERVERS - Quality dedicated hosting at a quality price!

Your NUTS if you're paying over $1.00/Gb you should be able to get it to $0.50 or better at some good hosting companies =)Brian C aka Romeo

Crazy high!
Try http://www.sinhost.com
We alsogot a great deal from http://www.cavecreek.com
They have lowered there prices a ton! We are at about a 1.00 a gig, for some crazy good BW with them.SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.Comment

Guys, screw the spam, you're totally missing what he's asking. It sounds like a really goofy deal, I want to know more about it...PHAT SERVERS - Quality dedicated hosting at a quality price!

overage, not average, overage. It means I can use however much I want and still get charged $2.5/GB.Originally posted by Sly_RJ

[edit]
What I mean by "no overage fees" is not that the overage fees are $0.00/GB, but that they are $2.5/GB, the exact same as the regulare fees. I apologize for not explaining this better.Last edited by HQ; 08-27-2003, 09:55 AM.Comment

how much bandwidth are you using if you dont mind?
because if you use only 10-20gb/month it makes sense. Companies provide customer support and for the virtual and small accounts wouldnt be able not even to break even if they were charging very low prices.Comment

For a straight per gig, try and get it down to $1.50 for that plan that you have. My overuseage price at the moment $0.59/gig with the prepaid being $0.59 a gig as well on one of my accounts.

Explantion of overage fees:
Usually you have to decide how much you are going to use, before you use it, and then if you use more you get charged overage fees that are greater than regular fees.

It depends how much volume you're pushing. But yes, that's a fine number.Originally posted by HQ
I currently get $0.6/GB (regular and overage) fees with another host which I use mainly as an image host. Is this normal?PHAT SERVERS - Quality dedicated hosting at a quality price!

If you can manage your own server, then I would definately suggest rackshack.net. Don't know how to manage a server...then you might be better checking elsewhere.
Dedicated Server - $99 - Includes 700 gigs of traffic
So, even if you only use 140 gigs a month, you would still only be paying 70 cents a gig.Comment

I would be pushing 250GB/month, but only guaranteed to push 30GB/month in the contract. In other words, I will only be charged for 30GB/month if I push 0GB/month. It would be a 12 month contract too.Originally posted by Sly_RJ

I've heard very bad things about rackshack's service when things go wrong. I like the advanced support I get now. I do not think I will be going to them.Originally posted by 49thParallel

sounds like a good deal for some one with a server for development or a back up server... no need to pay for bw while your not using it.. then 1 day maybe you'll use it and do 10 gigs and pay about 20$.. then just let it chill and not have to pay for itComment

That's nothing....My old host flashhost charges TEN DOLLARS PER GIG OVERAGE! They even had the nerve to try to charge me 75 dollars just to move my files from their virtual to a dedicated and the servers are in the same fucking building!
This is why I'm with webair now...My old host was crazyComment

http://www.isprime.com - pay around 63-70$ per Mbps (330 Gb)
http://www.svwh.net - pay around 35-70$ per Mbps
I may recomended it, because i work with each this company more one year. (for svwh - 4 years).Comment

Contracts suck. I learned my lesson about hosting contracts 3 years ago when I was paying $4 per GB while everyone else was paying $1 per GB.Originally posted by HQ

Why sign a shitty 12 month contract when you can get the same price and service with another company on a month-to-month basis?PHAT SERVERS - Quality dedicated hosting at a quality price!
