9/11 panel says Bush saw repeated warnings

This proves Bush is incompetent and should not be in charge of a fucking Winchells let alone the United States.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4734564/

By the time a CIA briefer gave President Bush the Aug. 6, 2001, President's Daily Brief headlined "Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US," the president had seen a stream of alarming reports on al Qaeda's intentions. So had Vice President Cheney and Bush's top national security team, according to newly declassified information released yesterday by the commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

In April and May 2001, for example, the intelligence community headlined some of those reports, "Bin Laden planning multiple operations," "Bin Laden network's plans advancing" and "Bin Laden threats are real."

The intelligence included reports of a hostage plot against Americans. It noted that operatives might choose to hijack an aircraft or storm a U.S. embassy. Without knowing when, where or how the terrorists would strike, the CIA "consistently described the upcoming attacks as occurring on a catastrophic level, indicating that they would cause the world to be in turmoil," according to one of two staff reports released by the panel yesterday.

"Reports similar to these were made available to President Bush in the morning meetings with [Director of Central Intelligence George J.] Tenet," the commission staff said.

    'Blinking red'
"The system was blinking red," Tenet told the commission in private testimony, the panel's report noted.

In this context, Bush "had occasionally asked his briefers whether any of the threats pointed to the United States," the report said. Or as one U.S. senior official more intimately involved in the summer reporting paraphrased the president's question to the CIA: "This guy going to strike here?"

It's obvious, John Ass had started taking private planes in Aug 2001 for some reason.
Now if he had taken some steps and failed to stop them, no problem. But nah, Bush heard the warnings again and again and the least he could've done is increase airport security but he didn't.

Gee, I had concluded that the guys in American intelliegence were incompetent buffons.

It is becoming clear they were doing there jobs, competently, if not well.

And the buffoons were all in the White House.

Has an American president ever been lyched before?

That article is old news. Here is what the 9/11 panel said yesterday

"Well, I got to tell you something. And I may get in trouble for saying this, but I?m going to say it anyway because I?ve had it. That August 6 PDB that they want to hang around the president?s neck - it?s a bunch of junk. Look at it. Ninety percent of it dealt with things that were three years old and none of the predictions in there were proved out. If you knew the circumstances of how it was prepared, you' d be scared."

But he didn't have a report with a time and place.. how could he do ANYTHING..

If they were waiting for that information it would come several hours before the attacks and would have been too late anyway.. They'd need to be paying attention to get that information in the first place - which they wernt - because they didnt have a time and a place to spur them into 'moving heaven and earth' to do something about it.

Very true. Bin Laden revealed later that most of the hijackers didn't know the plan until they were actually on the plane.

If the hijackers themselves didn't know, it's hard to blame the govt for not knowing either.

If there was truly no information to provide enough suspicion to spur the government into action then it's a faluire of the American intelligence community.. it's thier job to know about big events like this prior to their occurance.

The sad thing is that they were waiting for such specific information before getting really serious.

you can keep blaming people back through history to past democratic and republican governments, but it wont help anything.

is it not sad? hell yes it is. is it not sad that it took 911 to allow a system that could prevent 911? hell yes it is.
