Who's gonna look out for Mars?

    http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/space/0...eup/index.html

I was looking out last night and thought I saw it but I'm pretty sure now I was looking at the north star, lol. Im using an old shitty rifle range telescope I found laying around cuz all my other good optic shit is in my other house.

Anyone have some serious telescopes? I always thought about getting those huge motherfuckers that have built in computers in em and shit and automatically turn, but never went through with getting one. Now with this Mars thing going on, I regret not having one of those bad boys.

Triple 6, look towards the moon. Mars is supposed to rise with it and stay close by according to the local news. Doesn't look like we can see it until next week here from the clouds. All we have are binoculars but they seem to work pretty good from what we could see with the city lights all over.

You can't miss it. It's the huge glowing thing in the sky that isn't the moon.

i was just lookign at it with binolocars. made it a bit bigger. i would have loved to have used a big ass telescope. that would be soo cool.

one thing - the binolocurs allowed me to see one of the stars in the big dipper is really two stars, i wasn't able to see that with my naked eye

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I may be crazy but I thought it was the gigantic red thing in the sky right along the horizon.

My landlord has a self-made telescope that's huge, it's like 10' long, has a 15 or 16" reflecting mirror.. he built the computer tracking system hisself, and it stands on this huge wooden platform, you stand on it and it turns you with the telescope

I'm debating on going to his dinner party, or to a free keg/booze party in santa cruz with a bunch of rinky dink 6" telescopes ..
