C2K in Venetian about to be closed

Cant' wait to see them officially done. I called the hotel and asked for C2K, they said they're closed indefinitely. But when I called the C2K number, they're still open for their shows, no more club nights.

The Venetian said their contract expires at the end of this year, C2K's leasee won't be able to renew.

I know this doesn't mean shit to 99.99 % of you, but for me, I've been fucked over 5 out of the 6 times we threw a Players Ball there. I love the venue, but hate their management.

I'm in planning mode for the January 2004 Players Ball, featuring one of music's top performers, can't say yet.

Anyway, just jumped up with a Micheal Jordan fist in the air after the operator at Venetian said they're closed down. Thought I'd share my excitement. Haven't posted here in a while.

Good the wait time for the VIP and Sponsor areas were just ridiculous last year. Hopefully this year the venue you choose will have their shit together, after the delays and the hassle it really made me not want to go back to another Players Ball.

I feel ya. It totally sucks to give it my best effort to pull off the baddest party them hear that our biggest supporters are getting fucked at the door. We've tried everything, including our own security to over see their security, still got fucked. A manager is always missing when you need them. Even if C2K were sold to a new owner, I doubt our crowd would ever give that venue another chance after it's history.

We have plans for a WAY more exclusive party this year, with Snoop caliber talent, maybe bigger. Don't be surprised if it's in a venue that holds half, maybe a third of C2K. I'll be making announcements as things get closer, been working on it for months now. Keeping quiet until our big artist is signed, and venue signed.

So, who would be a top 5 artist in the world right now? The top 3 artists have the Snoop Dogg Players Ball DVD in their hands today, delivered by their agent in NY. And VH-1 called, they wanted my behind the scenes footage from January, they got that today as well. I guess VH-1 is doing something on the Ball soon. I'll believe it when it happens. All good stuff.

Only 1500 to 2000 capacity, I think. Depends on what we lock in. Another potential place can hold 3,000 to 4,000, but I'm not leaning towards it because only 1/3 of the crowd can see the show while the rest are in back rooms.

Anyone got the number to that Playas location posted in this thread? VIP's get Big Slurpees?

D-Money just some ideas for the next 10 years of the Players Ball -- get more of the technology aspect into the shows... Give it a cyberspace feel... Glitter projections -- laser show pimps... Get some 5th Element shit in there too Maybe even more of a performative Moulin Rouge aspect too... Like a Pimps on Broadway -- singing and dancing with hoes and cash -- giant fucking pimp wands with huge (fake) diamond tips... Eventually this will be a world famous event people will pay thousand$ for tickets... Get some real actors, costume designers... People would pay big $ for a such an experience...

It's not like going to your local theater and watching some actors do their thing, because meanwhile you're sitting next to a bunch of stuffy old retired people in the audience -- it's a full theatrical experience -- where the audience is in on the act too! Hoes everywhere!

We're getting there. So far, we've put 99% of the budget into the artists, so coming up with more money depends on sponsorship support. But you're on the right train of thought. I've tried for real actors, we've had Ashton from Punk'd on stage for an entire Digital Underground set. It wasn't planned though, but cool as hell when it happened. The Big Woody's was my "poor mans" version of incorporating webmasters into the party. I say poor man, cause the budget goes to the artists. I spring for the "wood".

Maybe we can get sharks with "lasers". Austin Powers reference sorry.

As it should be. It seems like for the past 3 years of the 5 years we've thrown these parties, webmasters have crazy expectations.

At first, we built the brand, proved we got great talent. VIP was only 200 to 300 people. Then as the party got better and better, and people believed in it, everyone HAD to have VIP. So the VIP areas got bigger and bigger so our "die hards" wouldn't be pissed off and offended. Now, we just can't keep giving out VIP's like that, it needs to be real small again. The party itself will be considered VIP because the venue capacity will be about the size of C2K's VIP. Like Disney World fitting Disney Land in it's parking lot.

I hope when I get slammed in Janaury, for people not even being able to get into the party (only 2,000 max this time), I hope they understand the chaos the masses caused.

For all those who can't get in, that should encourage you to work one of our sponsors programs, the way parties at shows are designed to work. Imagine that, knowing and working with one of the sponsors of a party,

Hey on another note, for those music fans out there. Lil Jon and Too Short just released a new single from Too Shorts upcoming album to be released in October. It's called "Shake That Monkey".

Thank god, that had to be the worst ran club for the amount of money that was put into it. The only thing it was good for is that it was in the hotel that most stay at for the show.

Best party ever at that c2k was when Brad Shaw and Tony Morgan thru that Comedy one..that was the bomb..

Players ball always seems to have Too Short..for 1 year.. can you get someone else?

Digital Underground is at least pretty creative..

have it at the SRO, its small and can accomodate just about as many people as you want, plus its a pretty nice club, its too bad the whole even will be vip now because iw as looking forward to it in 2004, cause i have fun there than most of the clubs out here all year long.

bue yea, the sro is pretty tight, if not do the hard rock, and what are someof the ways to get in? buy sponsorship?

Good Players Ball feedback.

First of all, George Clintion and P-Funk are my extended family. We had "Original P" perform, the original members of P-Funk minus George and Bootsy, more or less. It was a dope performance, but C2K fucked me that year too. They wouldn't let Ice-T on stage, they didn't want anyone to swear. They were trying to steal our audience by canceling the show 15 minutes before opening doors. They made up any reason possible to stop us from doing our show. Their motive was to steal our audience and charge them at the door. It didn't work THAT year. Greg from Ynot was acting as my attorney at the time and helped calm me down so the party could take place. In a nut shell, they said Original P had to stop playing at 11:30 pm, so they only played a 30 minute set. What a waste of good talent.

I wouldn't be surprised if we had 50 Cent and Snoop perform this year. They have a lot of new tunes they're recording together, a whole album actually. Snoop and I spoke months ago about it, he's down for sure.

Jimholio, it's at Venetian again. I'm looking into Rain, HOB, Saphire and possibly Mandalay Bay Events Center. If anyone has a suggestion for the new home of the Players Ball, holla!

On another note, we're looking to do our live radio show again tomorrow. We're trying a new way, so if it can't be ready in time, we might put it off til Friday. The whole live format will change, I'll announce it when we're ready. Just giving a quick heads up that it might happen. If we do the show, we have IBill, CCBill and Epoch as our guests. Webmasters want to know why their checks are so small lately, like the past couple months especially.

Then we'll do the Acacia and IMPA follow up. Been enjoying my time off the air, but now it's time to do it again.

Glad you asked. We'll be splitting the venue up between the sponsors. Like half the venue will be given between the sponsors, their tickets will be counted as good as being there. Meaning, we won't over crowd the venue for the first 2 hours or so. Their spot in the venue will be considered reserved. The other half of the venue will be purchased as a mini- sponsorship, includes website and newsletter exposure and tickets. We're still in the rough stages of figuring this process out, so don't hold me to it. In a nut shell, passes are free if you get them from a sponsor, or you can be a mini sponsor for cheap, not sure the price yet. We need to recoup some of the costs back since we've decided to keep our standards high with our talent. Making the party more exclusive again is key to it's existance. Even if it's only $20 for a ticket, includes a link in our newsletter or website. It will help screen people better, get rid of the haters.

We have some early interest in main sponsorships, one company is considering buying it exclusively. So if anyone is at all interested, contact me soon. darren @ marketingfirm dot com
