Not sure how long you've been working in adult, but this is an industry just like any other.

If you don't have any knowledge or experience before you jump in, you are going to have a difficult time being successful.

It might seem easy, and it might seem fun, but a lot more goes into making $ here than most realize.

Oh yeah, and if you're too lazy to push yourself, keep it up... cause at some point you will realize you're a dumbass and nobody will help you til you help yourself first. nothin personal

i think great ideas are fine. i also think ideas are the easy part. it takes much more than a great idea to be able to turn that idea into a business that is making a profit. particularly so, for someone with no business experience.

i have been trying to explain this to my cousin who just thinks i am being an asshole because i won't give him 100K for him to launch his "great idea" and make bazillions overnight because he thinks he has it all figured out.

That's why I qualified it by saying if you are lucky you might only get one or two great ideas in your lifetime. You also have to be in a position to turn those ideas into reality.

I have plenty of ideas, which 2 or 3 I am confident are *great* ideas; I'm just not in a position to do anything about them.

I have awesome ideas as well, but its hard when you dont have the $$$ to back up the idea, thats why I guess you have to start out promoting sponsers and making money like that, get a steady income (go for the recurring payments), and use that money to invest in your ideas - thats what I think but thats just my opinon, I just hope that you can make a good amount with sponsers and they dont fuck you over cause of the visa chargeback shit.

hybrid, you're exactly right... the only successful people I have met were with the last mainstream job I had. The owners of that company sure were total butt fucking hardcore ASSHOLES and theives... but they made millions every year. I just dont want to make money how they did - by basically stealing it, and giving people a service they DONT want. Pressure sales suck. At least in porn people WANT it.

I woke up and feel a bit better about myself and where I am going. Hopefully next fall when I go back to university it gives me the kick I need to succeed.

Being first or unique does not grant success or first place. Look at hamburgers and fastfood.

Franchise first - white castle.
Inventor of middle bun double patty burger - bobs big boy.
Company that capitilized on both best - Mc Donalds.

Hard work, consistancy, and a gut fire to succeed will out perform innovation nearly every single time. Innovation or a new idea may help, but it does not guarentee a damn thing.

Being self employed and successfull at it, is a personal issue. Some people have it and some do not. If you happen to fall into the "do not have it" area, odds are without a winfall or blind luck you will remain there. Odds tell me if your seeking motivation while working a minimum wage job, you "do not have it", those that do rarely require any external motivation.

Advice would be to keep at it just in case, stay in school so you have a fall back option, and work harder.

My experience suggests that the 80/20 principle is at work in the lives of many successful entrepreneurs. What this means is that WHILE they worked hard for minimal results, the actions alone perhaps put them into contact with the right people or with a new idea that popped up in this process. It is that "event" that then brings in 80% of the results. However, to find that event requires that you go through the drudge work of doing the other 20% that doesn't seem to be going anywhere...

I have met few people in life whose primary motivation was money - who actually made much.

And chances are, that guy in the beamer is on his 15th lease payment - a total looser who spent $795 for 24 months, and, at the end of that period has nothing.

I'm not saying toys aren't fun; I have some myself. They are just icing on the cake though, not the cake itself.

Most of the people I know who are really successful - worked on things they love doing. That?s what I have done my whole life. If you aren't motivated you aren't going to make a quality product and you aren't going to be successful.

So, my opinion is to put aside dreams of how much bucks you can make, and instead focus on something you can really do well and work long hours at.

From that fortuitous decision flows wealth for many people, if you throw in a little luck, balls, and timing.

I see these guys driving their bimmers and mercedes around my small town, owning beach front property. I want to be able to have these luxuries. But I am back living at home so I can afford to eat.

I have skills - but where and HOW can I apply them? I am a bit of an idea man, which is why I started up my site. But it isn't taking off as fast as I had hoped. (From 0-1,200 uniques a day in 3 weeks is OK I guess... but I was expecting more)

Sigh. Sorry for the venting. It's 2:30am and I am off to work for some bullshit asshole company making minimum wage in a few hours. I just get frustrated that I know I have so much potential but I am not utilizing it.

No offence, but you registered last month and you already have that many post. Its obvious that you can't be working too hard. I pull a hell of alot more than 6 figures, but I also work 10-20 hour days. Try that for a few months and see how much you are making then

Do what I did:

1. Sept 11th helped push the company I worked for under, lost job soon after

2. My Mom killed herself around that Christmas

3. Couldn't do anything but wake up, play video games, eat pizza, goto bed

Then, I moved to Costa Rica on a whim with a few friends. Had no money after the first month of partying, survived on rice and beans, and then was pretty much well rock bottom emotionally. Living in paradise with no hope...

Bleh bleh bleh long story short now I make 15k a month and life rocks.

I agree with that, you can't underestimate the power of innovation. There are always new ideas out there waiting to be discovered. Hit ALL the webmaster boards, there's so much info out there, you might see a post that sparks your imagination to create something new that will earn you $$$
