This is a recent change.

Microsoft decided to use the services of Akamai because www.microsoft.com has recently been the targetted of script kiddies, and because of the recent worm was set to attack www.windowsupdate.com.

Akamai is basically load balancing... one server takes the initial requests and then forwards them to several web servers scattered around the world. So it's less likely www.microsoft.com will be taken offline again by the massive DDoS.

Anyway, the server that handles the initial requests runs Linux.

Windows 2003 Server is more of a Corporate Web Server.

Do you understand the difference? It was not meant to end all other web servers

Also, that info is not true. MS has another service in front of it.

It's core servers are all MS.

Dude! I run a WEBHOSTING COMPANY! Of course I know the difference between a corporate web server and a real enterprise web server (which win2k3 isn't). You might want to checkout the sig before posting young Padawan!

Seeing as you are taking donations on your site for ChiliSoft ASP I highly doubt you have tried Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition.
