But what is the source of that hate? I think there are a lot of reflexive relationships that lead to wars that aren't going to go away just because some people wish them to.
There is no hope for humanity. Wars aren't going to go away. The 20th century was notable for it's increase in death and destruction at each other's hands.
Maybe we should focus on a search for the goodness of war. Wars permit competing ideologies to face each other in the culmination of an epic Darwinian struggle between systems of governance. The weakest nations are culled and the strong survive. War, what is it good for? Maybe something.

For much of the the 18th and 19th centuries there were more people in the world that hated the French. Probably even half of the 20th century. Why? Because France was a military and economic power that wielded tremendous influence in the world. She ran a worldwide empire. She had the ability to act unilaterally.
Hatred of a nation is often proportional to its power. Anti-Americanism in the world rose rapidly between 1990 and 2000, well before Gulf War II. Why? Because the Soviet Union collapsed and altered the power structure of the world. Those who used to view the US as a potential ally against Soviet power are suddenly viewing the US as a greater threat.
France does have power. It does not have as much as the US. It is a member of the EU, a nuclear state, and has veto power in the UN Security Council.

When Countries are in trouble they look to the United States for help because honestly, who else in the ENTIRE world would come to anybody else's aid?
