I just came back from doing my time in S. Korea (US Army), and yes, there are usually shots fired back and forth across the DMZ every other day. No, not all of them are because someone crossed the border.
It's not a big deal if shots were fired either over the ocean or on land, either way it's not a beginning of WW III. This has been going on since the beginning of the armistice. If there was a war starting, we would never hear about it over here until it was almost over.
