You're looking at a normal response not a unique one. You're asking why it is that the world and the people in it continue to act normal.

                                                                    My bloodline fought the brits for New Orleans in 1812-1815 including the Battle of Chalmette which was 6 miles from where I grea up. My people were the immigrants in rags using guns and sticks against the Brits.

These were people who were not enlisted in an army, these were folks fighting for their land, and thats why we wiped them out.

                                                                                                                                                                                They were called Baratarians under Jean Lafitte and other people who basically came out of their homes with guns to stop the Brits from taking over the Lousiana territory. If it had not been for them, we may have lost.

                                                                                                                                                                                5000 + local people including BLACK MEN fought the Brits there in those days, and we won.

                                                                                                                                                                                We even used cannons from old ships of Lafittes ;)
