          Attorney General John Ashhahahahaha announced when he took office in 2001 that the Justice Department would make obscenity prosecutions a priority.

                                                                                  CCBill is a great example. They'd have to employ/move staff to have more of a physical prescence in Europe but the are already billing for it very effectively.

They will go for easy targets, and they are not all that resourced financially. We feel they are going to shoot their load and come out and hit hard with everything they have, and that wil be it for awhile.

                                                                                                          Setting paranoia in motion is what they hope will give folks a chance to think if they want to get involved in content or not.

                                                                                                          If this is going to happen at least we can get some idea of what is considered obscene and hopefully they come up with new standards besides the miller test etc....

                                                                                                          No doubt they will try to prosecute in hostile areas to get those slam dunk juries to convict.

                                                                                                              1. 2257 compliance - are your docs all in a row and proper ?

                                                                                                              2. Email - I think that they will go after people who send out email even if it is opt in email. Basically on the grounds that you are pushing porn at them rather than them seekign it out. And especially those who puch email at people who dont want it or should not get it. This causes complaints more than anythign else. And Complaints is what focuses the light on companies.

                                                                                                                          It would seem (and I havent read all the details of the Extreme case) that on the internet charges, they are first going to have to prove the viability of prosecuting in Pennsylvania to start with, unless there is a precedent that came from an actual case I've not heard of before.

                                                                                                                          What makes ANY case that actually goes to trial a problem is that it will set some precedents, especially for venue, and that could go either way -- the internet could be declared a community in and of itself, or the same rules that might apply to putting things in the mail and sending them may be upheld.

                                                                                                                          I know there have been cases which were settled in the past where the venue would have been tested, I just cant think of any that went to a jury or judge for a ruling.

                                                                                                                          The postal or Fedex shipment of materials is much simpler to prosecute if I'm not mistaken.

                                                                                                                                      There was talk in the late 90's if the internet went 5 years without a wrath of prosecutions, it would be alot harder for a venue to declare an obscenity issue, and the internet as a whole would be the standard of sorts.

                                                                                                                                      This was believed to be an arguement entertained for defense to battle down specific hostile terroritories who find conventional sex obscene.

                                                                                                                                      This will be interesting to see the 50 or so under investigation and to whether they focus on the fetish vs. conventional hardcore, and of course which venues are chosen to set the precedents.

                                                                                                                                          I totally agree that the use of the US postal system ups your chances BIGTIME dont know about Fed EX or UPS but so far the cases I have seen include some form of shipping hardcore videos
