On Oprano you can see which members are online. This would be a great feature for GFY to have also.

It would probably slow down how quickly gfy loads, and on top of that I'm sure it would show hundreds of people online at once at any given time.
YNOT originated the "who's online" feature in the adult internet back in the mid-late 90s. We've taken it offline after our latest relaunch but plan to reinstate it soon. -
it's inaccurate at best for two reasons:
1. Lots of people have opted to keep their status invisible, so they wouldn't show up in the list anyway.
2. Lots of people keep this window open all day, and check it periodically as they work. So even if the list said they were online, it doesn't always mean they are reading at that moment.SIG TOO BIGComment

How about thread preview, where you hold your mouse over the thread title and a box with the first few lines of text from the post shows up. I've seen this on a few other forums.

Simple solution... if the list is too long..
pull the $loggedinusers out of forumhome completely, and just add link to online.php?s=
or
pull $activeusers out of forumhome_loggedinusers which will leave you with minimal stats and a link to online.php
or
leave it the way it is, it doesn't really matter.Comment

Just flag the last post time and/or last post viewed for everyone that is online -- not difficult to code.
Would be a nice 3rd party addition possibly to sell to other boards.Comment

Two things I'd really like to see, and don't think it would slow down the board, are:
1. Last post by (in the thread listing view, shows who made the most recent post in each thread) and
2. The ability to 'bookmark' certain threads or pop them into a 'favorites' folder/table in our profile.
The 'last post' is a standard board option (see Oprano to see what it looks like), and I believe the bookmark feature was an add-on module but might be standard in the latest release. Not sure.Comment

Who wants to look at a list of GFY grunts who post non-stop all day and say nothing? Just look at your buddy list. It shows you those who are online.
There are features I like about all the different board software, but my favorite is GFY. YNOT's board needs lots of help. It is very limited. I don't want my name showing up as being online. That is why many use a second name. They can come and go and not post, but they can read the board and remain private.Comment
