British Rail

OK heres a question for those of you outside of the UK.

Here in England we have a bank holiday weekend, not just any bank holiday this is one of the busy ones as it is summer.

Yet this morning we wake up to the news that 80% of our train services will not be opperating from Midnight through till Monday due to work they need to carry out.

Does this happen anywhere else or just here?

it really pissed me off as we have to get to the oterh end of the country and have to drive.

Then the government will moan will all use our cars.

Other end of the country?

Leeds to London is like a 3 hour drive.

Leeds to Brighton is like a 5 hour drive.

Leeds to Cornwall is only a 7 hour drive.

Try driving from Florida to San Diego then complain about the travelling time LMAO

Leeds to London with no trains running during the holiday will be about 6 hours.

You can bet your ass that the cones will be out on the M1 for 100 miles and you will see, if you are lucky one man drinking tea

So dont go down the M1 - simple answer to your problem

Use the A56 down to Sheffield then onto london down the A1m and into central London back on the A56

WIll be a 4 hour drive max taking into account the extra traffic especially as its virtually all duel carriage way after Sheffield nowadays

You have to be kidding Paul, just listening to the news and the traffic on the M25 is building up already and its like 1.10pm, twas just on the 1.00pm news.

I'm stayin put in London, anyways its the "Nottinghill Carnival" this weekend and Ive not been for a few years.

seriously, British people have no idea just how good their public transport is and how lucky they are to have it. Obviously have never lived without it.

That said, it does suck this weekend. It is the reason I didn't go to Reading fest. However, any system that gets used as much as the UK rail sytem is going to need repair. When do you think they should have done it? We all know what happens when they don't repair rails. If they had decided to do it on a work day all hell would have gone through the media. They were in a no win situation.

But anyway.. compared to places like Germany yes our british transport sucks my hairy left nut.

And Ken Livingston is a living prat....
What fuckturd, creates a congestion charge... with the only thing backing it the fact that more people will use bus's and trains.. then increases the fucking fare's on the bus's and trains!?!?

Ok someone send me a shot-gun I gotta go kick some royal ass!

train fares go up every year...he doesn't have control of the train companies anyway. He does have control of the busses and only just got control of the underground. The congestion charge is working. Trafalgar Square looks fantastic now that there are less flying rats and the paved over the road.
