Ain't NO way should any KID be at a porn party. Tell Mom and Dad to LEAVE and take the kids with them AND Don't ever come back. Better still ain't NO way they should even get through the door.Originally posted by AaronM
Between Internext and some comments I heard last night, there appears to be some concern about people who bring their kids to these events. Ages seem to range from infants through teens.
Should people be asked to leave a porn party for flashing because there are children present?
What are your thoughts on this?
You really can't be serious? How dam stupid can people be? Bring kids to a porn party. I've almost heard it all now.Epic CashEpic Cash works for me

1. No kids should be exposed to adult material or adult oriented conventions/shows. That is just plain common sense.
2. I do not see the point in bringing ANYONE not related to the business directly. Want a vacation?
Take them somewhere appropriate where you can give them good quality family time.
3. Both spouses are involved and cant afford a babysitter? Where there is a will, there is a way.
OR....get into another line of business!
4. This is not a normal business trip and even if it were, in most cases family should be and is seperated from such trips.
I think the organizers of the conventions themselves need to crack down on this, because it is obvious opinions will differ.
18+ no acceptions.
Whats next?
Children accompaning their parents on photo shoots?
Wow, now that is what I call a wholesome family get together!

i didn't see any kids, i must have been real drunk and thought they were midgets.
but if i had seen kids at a porn party i would have most likely wondered why they were there. most of these parties are definitely no place for childrenComment

I agree, I actually told the parents, I didn't think it was the place to have their kids. but everyone was behaving, and they left after about 30 minutes...they were neighbors, that I know well, and he didn't know this was a adult webmaster party. but again no one was flashing except one girl who was asked to stop, and that was hours after the kids left. This party was not a shooting party, or a party to have an orgy in. it was a place to have a good time, and do some business, and thats what happened.. (I would never have my child around a bunch of drunk content shooters..I agree with everyone on this.. but hey. thats me..)
I really enjoyed hanging with everyone.. I just woke up.. too much stress last night....

I wasn't at the Chicken and Disco party but I know what I saw at Internext and I thought it was absurd. If you are in this business and can't afford to take your kids on a separate vacation then get the hell out of the business or skip the convention and do the family thing.
I didn't see the kids by the pool during the bikini contest but I did see one woman with a damned stroller and another toddler hanging onto the stroller just outside the show floor doors. It absolutely floored me and I tripped over myself not believing I was seeing that. I am a parent of 3 children and none of them know what I do but there is no way in hell I will allow them anywhere near a convention. If that means I miss the convention then that is the choice I made when becoming a parent.
You have to use some common sense when attending the conventions and realize that most of the webmasters there are drinking a lot and that business doesn't confine itself to the show floor but it spills over to rooms, restaurants, bars and even hotel lobbies. I personally think that any parent that takes a child to the conventions should get out of the business altogether. Although, if you do "Have" to bring your child along make sure that your child is in another hotel as far away from the convention site as possible and for god's sake stay home with them in the evenings and don't attend the parties. Be responsible at some point in your life.Comment

There are irresponsible parents..and there are responsible ones...
are we trying to say that all parents lack common sense here?
I am bringing my family to vegas this year.. we are going to do a family vacation...if I, an adult want to take a couple of days and network and do the convention..and hubby is going to spend time with the kids... I as an Adult reserve that right without having some elses bullshit shoved down my throat to how they think i should be staying at home with my kids...
Next time you guys run into Janine Lindemuller, ask her how she feels about bringing her kid to Vegas during the AVN awards.. I am sure she will have an earfull for ya
some people like I have the skills to be able to have common sense and separate my kids from the drunken bullshit.Comment

Just because we're in porn doesn't mean that anytime there's a get-together or a party, clothes have to come off, or the clothes that are worn (like the girl above) are useless anyway.
Is it impossible to have a good time without creating a mini-Internext atomosphere? Is it written somewhere that EVERY get together is automatically a photo shoot?
Edit: Bah, my comment got off-topic of Sykkboy's quote, so while I still agree with him re: discretion I figured it best to just cut that part out.Last edited by Carrie; 08-17-2003, 09:18 PM.Comment

That's a classic. A psychotic scumbag saying I have problems. But then my child is raised properly, NEVER exposed to pornography or allowed anywhere near my office and will not grow to be a fucked-up scumbag who has to fake his own death to gain notoriety on a board. But then I would also not take my child within a mile of a porn convnetion. It's called parental responsibility and is very easy to do.Originally posted by theking
Very possibly the same ones that think it is OK to operate a porn business out of ones home with young children living in that home...like this Tipsy character for one.
Take a long and good hard look at yourself Pathfionder and see where the real issues lie. Once you have done so take an even harder look at your parents as they must have had a huge part in making you such a fucked up individual.Last edited by Tipsy; 08-18-2003, 01:13 AM.Comment

Do you really think this kid had fun??
What kid *wouldn't* love seeing all the bikes?
My folks brought home pics from Sturgis earlier this month and there's an 11 yr old kid there who built his own chopper and had it out on display.
I agree kids shouldn't be at Internext. I don't agree that kids shouldn't be at bike meets. Biking is a way of life and when the bikers get together it's a very friendly, laid-back gathering where entire families - hell, entire generations - have made bikes a part of their life.
Saying that kids shouldn't be at Internext though does not mean that parents shouldn't bring kids and take them to all of the other things to see - by all means, hell yeah. Especially Vegas. The Aladdin hotel has a cool dragon/knight show, there's a pirate show at Treasure Island, there's a volcano that goes off, hell one hotel has its own freaking zoo... Vegas woke up and realized a long time ago that all of these tourists have families and children, and if there were things for the family to see/do, they could take in more money and attract folks who would not otherwise choose Vegas. Now there's tons of things to do in Vegas for people of all ages.Comment

I don't know why anyone would want to bring kids to a porn convention, BUT sometimes they are located in areas where you can do 'the family thing. (remember Orlando)
However, all convention events should have an age limit . The drinking age - with NO exceptions. Only badged participants should be admitted - that solves the problem of children very easily.
Nudity should NOT be a problem, because it is not only illegal but in very bad taste in public areas..... so again, children should not be exposed to it - because it shouldn't happen.
The pagent in Montreal, should have not been a problem because although some were staying there with their parents, the pagent was held somewhere else. Actually, it was not a problem except for ONE jerk, who asked a kid if they wanted to be in a photo shoot. It was probably a joke (I would hope) but, still in bad taste.
Our industry is fortunate to have one show a year that we can take 99% of the hotel - but it is not true for any other location. So, it is the exception of the rule. We need to learn how to conduct ourselves in public and have a little respect for other people and property. That is called 'growing up.Comment

no one should bring their children to a porn convention. things are discussed there that aren't legal to expose minors to. totally aside from how bad that could be for the child, it's illegal and could get people thrown in jail. in fact, parents could lose their children entirely from bringing their kids.
that's fucked up all around.
imo, when people arrive for any part of the convention with their children, they shouldn't be allowed in. period. for the good of the children, the legal safety to the attendees AND the legal good of our industry.
as far as people flashing by the pool and in resturants, it is a fun and exciting atmosphere for them, BUT it's too bad people can't have a little self restraint because there will be children there that people who aren't there for the convention brought. shit, everyone in vegas at least brings their kids for the buffet.
once again, aside from what the kid does or doesn't process, people can go to jail.
as far as children at adult parties, i'm against that when it isn't a porn party. adults get drunk and will do things that are a lot of fun at parties that will frighten children who don't understand. it isn't fair to the other adults at a party to ask them to curtail their speech or actions NOR is it fair to expose the kids to some guy yelling "who wants to suck my dick?" at the top of his lungs - and maybe pulling it out - just 'cause he's fucked up and horny.Last edited by basschick; 08-18-2003, 09:00 AM.Comment

Well, I do know who brought their kids to Miami (in two instances), and regardless of whether or not you or I would, it happens. At the end of the day, it's up to the parents to make their own choices. Of course I think some of you would be surprised to realize who you are bashing with the comments...
The Holio party was not an 'adult' party to the best of my knowledge. Nowhere on the invite did it say come and get naked, start flashing or have sex in the backyard by the pool. I'm also sure that Dave doesn't have a big sign up by the driveway that says he is a pornographer and given the amount of cars and people in attendance, I'm betting ALL his neighbors were curious as to what was going on... and inviting the neighbors is the best way to keep the peace in the neighborhood. Perhaps telling the neighbors before they came over that it was an adults only party might have been an idea, but by no means was it an 'adult' party. As for the chick in the schoolgirl outfit, most kids have seen women in swimsuits before that cover less than the outfit did if it's the flesh that is so problematic. Of course keep in mind that there was no wild drug use, no peeing going on anywhere other than the restrooms, etc.
Vegas is a whole other story, I don't personally think its a place for kids at all, the casinos are designed for the most part so that you have to go thru them to get to your rooms and the last thing I want my son to learn is what someone whos just spent their rent money at the slot machines and isnt winning looks like.
That's just my thoughts on it.Comment

Having to bring a child along and arranging OTHER activites for them with family members or caregivers that DO NOT bring them into contact with adult parties etc is one thing. But having a child ATTEND those functions? That parents should be fucking smacked upside the head REPEATEDLY. That is BEYOND disgusting.. Besides, why would you want a child around a bunch of swearing, boose-swilling, smoking people? I wouldn't slam people for taking them. but involving the kids in the FUNCTIONS is BEYOND fucking irresponsible, and I don't particularly care WHO the fuck I'm insulting. Rule is be a PARENT FIRST, pornographer second.Comment

It just amazes me how many people who have no common sense whatsoever, are raising children.
It's funny how in this society you need a license to drive a car but not to raise a kid - which I think is the biggest responsibility in the world.
I'm serous - people should have to take tests to determine whether they are competent enough or not to make humans and raise them.

Any one who lives in the US and took their kids to the show AND allowed them into areas liek the pool whilst the bikini comp was on deserves to be FLOGGED
we have a 10 month old daughter and we had to leave her in australia or 2 whole weeks ,with her grandmother - who is terminally ILL because we were NOT goign to take her to the convention
imagine being on the other side of the world and not being able to get home in an emergency !
it was RALLY hard for us and it fucked our heads a little bit, being away for so long
but at the end of it all we wre REALLy happy that we had made the right choice
In january we'll be doing the same as beastypoo mentioned
we'll be flying some babysitters to vegas with us
although if we are living in LA then - as we hope too - we'll just fly someone in to look after her at home
^and what Kel said
I have always stressed that their need to be "parenting Lisences"
you need a license to own a dog - why not one top raise a child?
If you've got no choice and need to take the kids - keep em out of the adult entertainment areas
you can't take your kids into a nightclub - and you cant let them into a paysite
live entertainment and adult biz expos are NO different

Why the hell not? Kids have no place at a porn convention. If they're not prepared to get a babysitter, then don't go. Simple as that. Anyone that brings their kids to a porn convention needs some fucking parenting classes.Originally posted by M P
